The BBC news issued a warning last month against getting involved with pyramid schemes. Here is an excerpt from that article:

What can we say about pyramid gifting scams? They are probably the most dangerous and insidious of schemes simply by virtue of the fact that people are recruited onto them by the people we trust the most, our friends and family.
Over the past few years it is estimated that more than £3bn has been lost by investing in these schemes. Yes, you read it correctly, £3 billion!
The organisers of these pyramid gifting scams hide their intentions behind respectable emotive names like Women Empowering Women, Circles of Success or the Hearts scheme. The people at the top are the only ones who will ever make money from the scheme and we know that some of the organisers featured in the programme have received several times. As usual, that's your hard earned cash lining the pockets of these super-scamsters!
