The judgment was finally entered in EZExpo and the case will now start the appeal process within the next 60 days. It should last about one year.

So who won the first case? I didn't know that it had been decided.

Here is the link for that explanation:

We have a "Lawsuits" section on the forums page for other interesting details.

Basically, the pay companies (PaySystems, Ginix, PayPal, etc.) had a good day on January 29th when an Orange County Superior Court judge ruled that they could not be held responsible for the actions of the matrix sites. The judge did not rule the matrix sites were legal. He assumed they were illegal but held the payment processors are still not responsible.

The other side of the story, however, is that in just a few weeks from that ruling other judges ruled differently in other cases (Variety Matrix/Digital River, Pay Request, etc.) This shows that this is a more cutting edge issue of the law. We are appealling the EzExpo decision and that is what this thread is all about.

Our outlook now looks even better with the FTC filing similar lawsuit against other pay companies.

There is a "Legal Advice" link in the main menu box to the upper-left of the screen. That should help out enough.

Right now, the EzExpo case is under appeal, and it may be as long as 8 months before we get an update.

The good news is that the other cases are ending well, and other judges are deciding differently.

Make sure your account is set up to receive mailings from the admins (access your User CP), and we will send something out as soon as it is available.

There was an appelate hearing last month, and I still have yet to release the update. Sorry about the delay. I'll provide everyone with the details shortly.
