Hi Everyone,

I just found this website amongst others trying to find some of the Matrix sites to warn an weary Ebayer... It's really really sad. I was trying to buy myself a brand new Pioneer in dash display. I figured Ebay would be the place to go. I go through the auctions and I find a 7500 for like $400Cdn! I couldn't believe it! These things retail for like 3 GRAND! I go in and read the auction.

"This is not an actual Pioneer player, it is only information on how to get this for $100"

Obviously I'm not going to bid. But I look up. 18 Bids. The high bidder is a new member, unsure of Ebay, unaware that he's paying $400 for a link to a website that even if somehow by chance it does go through, would probably take 2+ years???

Does anyone know? Can we WARN the high bidders of these auctions about what they're bidding on before it's too late??? Can we talk to those Ebay Executives and have this stuff BANNED from Ebay all together??? I don't want to sit idolly by, but I also don't want to get banned for discrediting other peoples auctions....

What do we do???

The scammers often run it as a private auction which hides the identities of the bidders.. however if the seller doesn't do that, it might be possible to send emails to the buyer. What's insane is, I actually think it's against ebay policy to email a buyer to encourage them to retract their bid.

That's what I'm concerned about! I buy a ton of stuff for my car on there, I just think it's terrible to sit back and not say anything. I mean I guess it's their own fault for not knowing any better but some people just don't know enough about these things...

It might almost be good to start donations to set up Fake Ebay auctions where you take stuff that is found on a Matrix site, but when someone clicks on the auction it basically tells them to watch out for it, and expose them. Chances are those people that bid on these scamming auctions are going to check out more then 1 before they bid.

One thing you can do is join the watchdogs here. We do our best to report as many of these auctions as possible and get them closed. Take a look around the "Report a Matrix Auction" forum here. You'll see that there are a number of us on the job. I also have a thread explaining what the job entails.

If you're interested, we always could use a new dog on the team. Send me a PM.

I would like to see more warnings about the matrix more on TV and radio.
