Is anybody able to view GotMatrix this morning? I get a "page can't be found" error. The whole site seems unavailable.

mikv,
I moved your question into a new thread since it may be something that more people will want to discuss.
I tried to access their site last night around 1:00am, PST. No luck. I noticed that some of the members of matrix-sites.net are having problems too.
One member over at Matrix-sites.net said that they accessed the site and did some posting on the forum earlier today. 'IF' that is the case then the site was up for short while.
If the site isn't back up within a couple days then we may have to put something up on our homepage for the customers.
Greg is a registered member here at MatrixWatch.org, so perhaps he will stop by to let his customers know. I've kept his membershipl active so that he could respond to anything said about his site here.

Yeah it's weird that only Sisco and SigX are the only two that can access the site. I have also been trying since last night but I just thought it was something with my computer at home, I can't access it from work either. I called a couple of friends and they aren't able to view the site either. There was no prior post by Greg that the site would be down, but one customer on Matrix-Sites posted a couple of emails that they got from Greg today so although the site seems to be down, Greg is still answering emails.

Isn't Greg's email Greg@gotmatrix.com? How is he able to receive emails through the gotmatrix account if the site is down?
The site is definately down. Those who can access it are likely working off cached memory.

I just wanted to do a whois on it to see if maybe the site was up, and that was the info I got. I can only assume they they reached their connection limit for the day, so its just a temporary thing. Maybe some wannabe hacker got fed up with them and did a denail of service attack until it shut it down for the day.
In other words, I have no idea, but what I got from that query, its probably just a temporary thing, and they'll be back tomorrow scamming more people.

I see. Now, if that is the case then how is Greg still able to send/receive emails? The folks over at Matrix-sites.net are saying that he is responding to email contacts. I wonder if those messages were sent before the site went down.
As I said before, Greg still has access to our site. He is invited to post if he has any info for his customers.

I saw one posting where the email was bounced back. I assumed, after reading that, he probably just is using a generic email program and has a return address as his gotmatrix address, and probably just responding to old emails, since he went a month not respong - wait, never mind, it was his spam filter or somthing. I definately know how that is. I mean, turn on spam filter, and get 20 less legitimate emails a day. Lets not try to figure out why during the month. We have less email! and people are buying that crap?

This is very interesting because I've only encountered this kind of error on a "free website". Being that GotMatrix owns the domain and the host is "Got Host?", I always assumed that Greg or someone from his side owned the hosting company too.
Actually yesterday before the site went down, there was a post from a customer regarding some "pay-for-visits" site that they had signed up to that was supposed to be bringing "thousands" of "hits" to GotMatrix. I believe it was an email safelist or something. Most of those types of sites are scams in that they claim to be able to bring you some outrageous amounts of "unique visitor traffic" (5000-10,000 hits) for very little money. The reality of those sites is that they use software to "flood" the website with "spiders" that crawl the site over and over with a different IP everytime, simulating unique visitors but you never get a "live person" on your site. I wonder if that is the reason for that error?

Sigx just posted at Matrix-Sites showing a screen shot of his access. Why is it that the GotMatrix loyalists can access the site, but others cannot?

guess it's not what I thought it was cause "Agent Star" posted at Matrix-Sites:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Its down, I have no clue how SigX can see it!.........
In fact I spoke to Greg, which was sumwhat of a miricle cause i havent seen him online for months... But interestingly enough Greg was online today and he said hes aware of the problem and looking into it.
Nice to see greg & sigx around after so long."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Weird how SigX97 can see the site and function while on the site, but Greg himself acknowledges that there is a problem he's aware of and is looking into it. SigX even says that he cleared his history and cached file and can still see the site.

'GotMatrix' just posted over at Matrix-sites.net.
It's not functioning for me. I'm hoping that in 24H it will be 100% operational. The registrar (Tucows) is looking into the situation. You can access the site by doing a http://www.got-host.com/~gotmat/ for now but the pictures will not load properly.
If the admin of GotMatrix.com was unable to access the site, then how could sigx access it and even post?
He posted something about proving the 'dogs' wrong... I don't get it. Tons of people can't find the site, the questioning starts at Matrix-sites.net, and then we start to talk about it. No allegations have been made. Just questions... The same quesitons that everyone else is asking.
And regarding our claims about matrix sites in general, we are not wrong. GotMatrix is running into the problems that we said it would.
They have found ways to delay the results of those problems by password protecting the signup lists and starting new lines, but the same problems remain. More and more customers will need to come in and cycle off the top names, and then those new customers will need the same to happen to them, ad infinitum...
When and how will it end? Sometime soon and in the same way that every other pyramid scam ends... A total collapse, where the owner heads out the door with most of the money.
Anyone who has been around long enough knows this, but if their names are near the top of a cycle list then they don't want this info to become too widespread. I think that is the situation that many of the loyalists at matrix-sites.net find themselves. They are part of the minority of customers who actually get something out of these scams, and they are hell-bent on attacking our credibility because our revelations cost them money.
No matter how loudly and arrogantly people like Sigx cry against MatrixWatch.org, our claims about matrix sites will ring true in the end. His adolescent attacks on our credibility only strengthens our determination to file more reports and complaints. His refusal to answer our most basic arguments against the legitimacy and legality of the matrix sites is also noted.
Scammers and those who are helping them are the only (small) group of people being adversely affected by MatrixWatch.org. It speaks to their credibility when they criticise us. Meanwhile, many customers are staying informed and mailing us thank-you emails. Thousands of dollars have been returned to customers thus far, either via chargebacks, refunds, or through the lawsuits. Those who had that cold, hard cash in their greedy hands at one time now have nothing better to do than try take down the cause of their loss. It is pathetic.:o
