View Full Version : Just saying 'Hey'

Apparently the grapevine found me, because I received two emails from this place in as many days (watchdog and Urlkiller). Decided to stop by and see what you have going on here.
I ran into one of these matrix scams on Ebay a few months ago, and wrote up an article on my experience you can find on http://welo.org/ebayscam/ if anyone feels like reading it. I need to go back through it sometime soon and inject some updates, though I have kept a pretty good documentation on the forum I setup there (yeah, yeah ... I still haven't finished skinning it).
Anyway, looks like a good, informed organization you guys have going on here. I have compiled a mailing list of all the people who have contacted me about the Ebay thing (amazingly, I'm still getting inquiries about it), so I'll make sure to send something to everyone advising them of this site.
Cheers everyone-- Will

Thanks, but the welo.org site is just a personal project I work on when I have the chance. I had the domain sitting around for months until I needed a place to put the Ebay scam stuff.
I manage an online community at http://llamasery.org though if anyone wants to pop in. We have good people there :), and I project the community will be exapnding rapidly over the rest of the year. Lots of features and services being developed and prepared behind the scenes right now.

Your site seems to be a means of growing online communities. Do you have anyone involved with your site who would be interested in what Matrix Watch is doing?

Heh. You should contact Tia at http://nerdbyte.com (she eats up all this scandal stuff). She could help put out the word for you pretty fast. Tell her I sent you.
Matter of fact, I'll post something about this place on my board right now. She'll have some kind of response to it by the end of the day, I can about guarantee. ;)

Great! I saw that you posted a message on your forums.

I have cruised through your site, and I am glad to know about it. I would recommend for everyone to take a look at what "welo" is setting up over there. Very impressive. If you have a free moment Will, would you mind letting our members know what your site is all about? I mean the "llamasery" site, not the "welo" one.

Certainly, and thanks for asking. Making this quick, Llamasery was created to approach the business aspect of web development with a mature yet lighthearted mindset. A good bit of the underlying history can be found here (http://llamasery.org/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=5&t=1831&hl=choosing+sides&) for those who feel like looking.
We've been around almost a year now and expansion has been deliberate and patient. All of our staff are under contract, are excellent, caring people from all over the world (five countries represented so far and counting) with an impressive collective and individual experience level.
And we're all friends :).
I am writing a book in parable format based on our experiences and discussions there. Hopefully it will be ready to send to some lucky publisher by the end of the year. Anything you want to know about the web, your computer, or about anything else, you're likely to find an answer to at Llamasery.
I'm kinda proud of it :).

Welo,
I was actually quite impressed with your site. It is something similar to what I wanted to start years ago and never got around to it.
I have so many ideas floating around in my head and only so much time to act upon them.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks Damion. There is an entire backend to Llamasery nobody has seen but our staff, and will be made public by degrees over the next few months. Lots of valuable services and features will be offered, to include an extensive collection of inexpensive site templates, Llamasery certified scripts and software sold on consignment, an entire articles archive, forum hosting service, our own search engine etc. The whole shebang will be moved to a dedicated server next month.
It's been a lot of work, and I haven't paid the amount of attention to it I would have liked at times while dealing with clients and whatnot over the past year, but it's getting there.
The whole idea was to create an interesting place to marry web developers with people who need work done, while inspiring an identity and aura you don't normally see on your usual web-geek-oriented forum. We talk about coding and technical issues, yet this is only part of what it takes to achieve success on the internet. Like I said, getting there.
:)

I probably will not be there everyday as I am with some forums, but I am sure I will stop by occasionally and check out what is going on.
