I just noticed something that maybe we've mentioned before. eBay is to a point that they are closing almost 85-90% of the reported auctions each day. If I take a look back to the first post in this thread, they were averaging maybe 5-10%. It shows that our efforts are making a difference! All I did was find the difference between the previous days auction total and the current day, and the same for the number closed and did the math. Its amazing the difference!

Its hard to notice that the number of closed auctions is up though since we just hit 25000 auctions reported, maybe we should include a daily close average of sorts for each day to see how effective they are closing them down along with having the overall average of closed auctions. It would certainly help discourage anybody out there that is viewing our site and thinking of using eBay (or yahoo) as a method of advertisement.

Just a thought ..........

I do like the idea of keeping better short-term statistics. It wouldn't be hard at all to do, and I'll work on it.

Attached is the latest chart I have on the eBay closure rate. You can see that while they are making progress in catching up, the progress is slow.

This is fantastic. It is these kinds of statistics and charts that grab the attention of any interested parties.

It has certainly grabbed my attention. It appears as though the gap difference between reported and closed auctions seems to have widened over time, not become smaller. Is this right??!

You have to think in terms of percentages cybertrax. We are up near a 70% closure rate now....that is to say that 70% of all the auctions we have ever reported have been closed. That number has only gone up. You can see these numbers more clearly in the daily status reports. As that number continues to rise, we will close the gap you see.
