I give her credit for her dancing. It looked good. I feel like I'm part of this scam by watching that!

I thought the dancing was the icing on the cake for how bad and fake she is.

I totally agree. I wonder if any of her songs are really her own. She just plops on the platinum-record scene all of a sudden riding on the legacy of her sister, and everyone assumes that she is for real.

We may have another Millie-Vanillie on our hands here.

Good find, sigx. Thanks for posting it.

Here is some more info on the issue (interviews, video, etc.)

I can't seem to play the video though.

I found the excerpt of this article (http://www.z100.com/script/headline_newsmanager.php?id=358835&pagecontent=musicnewschrmain&feed_id=26) interesting:

The blunder has been all the more embarrassing for Simpson, because she recently expressed her disapproval of lip-syncing in an interview with Lucky magazine, explaining, "I'm totally against it and offended by it. I'm going to let my real talent show, not just stand there and dance around. Personally, I'd never lip-sync. It's just not me."

This MSNBC article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6329101) has a pretty solid review of the situation, as well as a 2-minute video with excerpts and interviews.

If Ashley wouldn't have done that stupid dance then her publicists might have had a better chance at covering this whole thing up. They could have said it was a echo track playing or something like that.

However, that moment seemed to not only catch her off guard, but to reveal how she might be behind all of the glamour and cameras. Scary.. These hollywood people might be just like us!

I am anxious to see how the money-makers are going to glaze this one over. This should get interesting.

It also looks like there is a sub-controversy here as well. Apparently, right after the issue occured, a group of hackers infiltrated the MTV website and posted this fake review (http://lipsync.us/mtv1.mht) of the situation in which they say that Simpson owned up to the situation and said that her voice just wasn't holding up.

Then, the Ashlee Simpson clan spoke out against the article (http://lipsync.us/) and had MTV take it down. Another stupid move, because it was a pretty good excuse. The hackers made it seem like Ashlee usually sings her own music, and only that one performance was dubbed.

Well folks, here is the updated MTV article (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1492993/20041025/simpson_ashlee.jhtml?headlines=true) (this time its for real).

Seems that they have now found a good excuse.

Ashlee Simpson claimed a chronic gastric disorder was the cause of her lip-synching miscue on "Saturday Night Live" this past weekend. The singer said that acid reflux disease caused her to lose her voice and rely on a backing tape for her performance.

Well, that is convenient, especially since this disorder will miraculously heal itself when she performs LIVE at the Radio Music Awards.

When her father was asked (http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=196853) by ABC News if she would lip-sync her performance tonight, he affirmedly denied it:

"Just like any artist in America, she has a backing track that she pushes so you don't have to hear her croak through a song on national television," Joe Simpson told Ryan Seacrest on Los Angeles radio station KIIS-FM. "No one wants to hear that."

He insisted it would be Ashlee's live voice alone during her appearance on NBC's "Radio Music Awards" Monday night.

And he said she's never used the extra help onstage before.

So, if she is accused of lip-syncing, then he explains it away with some bogus disease. Then, he says that she will prove herself when she sings live tonight, even though these two statements raise serious questions about the legitimacy of it all.

I guess they don't think her fans are very smart or something.

On another side note, Ashlee Simpson's private cell phone number was momentarily and accidentally leaked on her website (http://www.byroncrawford.com/2004/09/call_ashlee_sim.html). It is now being auctioned off on eBay.
