Re: Internet Matrix Scam
Dear Mansfield Police,
I am writing to you in regards to an “internet matrix scam” of which I have become a victim. The website in question is www.gotmatrix.com . In January of 2004 I was drawn to this website in the belief that I would be able to receive electronics, or even cash, for a minimal, up-front investment. The site explained that the process was 100% legal and that all I had to do was put a small amount of money down and I would be added to a “matrix list” to receive the gift I desired.
In return for my entry fee I did receive eBooks. The matrix-site owner assured me through the instructions on the site that I was purchasing this item, and that the entry into the matrix was a “free-gift” incentive. I later learned that the eBooks were not worth the money I put down, and it is clear that by selling an item the owner of this matrix site is attempting to circumvent laws against pyramid scams.
Below is some further information about the transaction(s):
Date of payment(s) January 6, 2004
Methods of payment(s) Check
Total amount of payment(s) $165.00
At this time, the website www.gotmatrix.com is defunct and no longer shows up when a web browser is pointed at it. The owner’s contact information is as follows:
greg@Gotmatrix.com
Gregory Day
2100 Linkside Dr. #10
Cincinnati, Oh 45245
(513) 753 – 5117
After searching for more information, I realized that the matrix sites are not as legitimate and “legal” as was promised to me. My search led me to MatrixWatch.org. There, I found several informative resources on the matrix site. In closing, I feel that I have been unlawfully scammed out of my money, and thus I am deferring to your offices for help in this matter. Thank you for your time.
To date I have contacted the FBI, Texas Attorney General, Cincinnati Attorney General, and the Internet Fraud Complaint Center.
Sincerely,
