We have added/changed some things to the MatrixWatch site that you may have noticed:

1. User rankings are now classified using watchdog icons, classified as we always have by the number of posts:
first post - no dog heads
less than 10 posts - 1 dog head
less than 25 posts - 2 dog heads
less than 50 posts - 3 dog heads
less than 100 posts - 4 dog heads
less than 500 posts - 5 dog posts

Depending how this works out in the next few weeks, we'll see if it needs to be modified at all.

2. We've added 4 new animated smilies for your posts, :applause: lol and :nono:
We think these help set the tempo and theme for posts, so we hope you enjoy them.

The MatrixWatch team will be making site updates throughout the next 2 weeks to add some new features and functionality and to help ensure stability and avoid issues like what occured last weekend with the forums. Stay tuned to this forum for when we complete changes as we will keep you updated of anything new. If at any time you can't access the site or the site doesn't quite seem right in the next 2 weeks, please bear with us as we might be doing work at that time, just try back in a little bit (although we don't anticipate any downtime or forum problems). These changes will help our cause as we head into 2005!

Thanks for your patience!

Matrixwatch Site Changes Update - 12/29/2004

We've completed performing about half of the required updates that we are looking to perform on the website. Apologies to anybody who may have been kicked off of here today or anybody who got a "500 Internal Server Error" message when accessing the site, everything should be cleared up. The largest part of the changes were installed today.

If anybody comes across any error messages, broken links or anything weird as you are surfing the site, please either reply to this post, send me a PM or send an email to jokach@matrixwatch.org

Thanks again for your patience! :)

I saw the heads. That was a cool addition. But, if possible, WD should have a special icon, and admins should have their own also so its easy to differentiate for people. Or, if thats not possible, admins get a 6th head, and WD gets a 7th head.

Something along those lines may be a good idea. I've also thought of developing a flurry of speacial banners which would go next to the UserID. They would be rectangular and would say "adminstrator" or "priviledged member", "super mod", etc.

I've also seen some other VBulletin boards with very developed user-ranks/logo systems so I think that we will most certainly develop this a little more.

As I think about it, we may need a 'community development leader' who could spearhead this project and make sure that our membership grows and stays informed and happy. This person would be in charge of making MatrixWatch.org a great place to hang out. If anyone has experience in this area and is interested then feel free to send me a private message! :)

I agree with Watchdog. It has taken so long to get this ranking system in place simply because we don't have the resources right now to tackle asthetics of Matrixwatch (we barely have time to keep up with all the administrative and watchdog work).

If someone is willing to step up to the "community development leader" position, that would be awesome. On the other hand, if someone who has expertise in some area that would be helpful to M.W. and wants to volunteer a small amount of time to do something to help (i.e. someone who is good with image/icon/graphics manipulation helping to develop new rank icons), that would be just as good! We need all the help we can get!!!

And to piggy-back off what Merc just said....

You might have noticed that our site is pretty functional, but we could use some aesthetic details such as a logo, graphics, banners, user-group icons, etc. If anyone out there has some design talents, and you would like to join the team here and help out, then please let us know!

We could use your help.
