Does anyone know what happenned to CAN?
They were the first doubler I saw.

If you look at alexa.com

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/t...l=it-pa.com#top

you can see that they may have been the most popular doubler on the net early last year. Now they claim to have survived legal fights and have visa on their side with their own visa card.

http://www.can-microportal.com/about.php

I remember seeing them in May and then they lost their google rankings and seemed to disappear and I only just recently found them again. They may be the first doubler type group. They definately were offering doubler products before Empowerism.

numbersman, I just spent 10 minutes on their website, so I haven't quite figure out how this "consultant" company could generate such a high profit.

I suspect that it is a "pyramid-based" business model, but need more time to investigate.

I think you are right numbersman, they started their "pyramid-style" business earlier than empowerism. This is an interesting site to investigate especially since they are offering VISA card! Hmm... that's interesting.

I suspect that it is a hybrid-pyramid case. Hybrid in the sense that part of their business is legitimate (non-pyramid), and part of it is not (pyramid). And, they use the legitimate part to apply for Visa.

These are all speculation at this moment. I hope some insiders or customers could share their view on this website.

Of course, the standard question is: where do they get the money (other than selling the portals to members) to pay their member? . Remember, if it is a non-pyramid/ponzi business, the other sources of income have to be 5-10 times more than money received from members to keep the "business" legit and sustainable.

numbersman, great info from one of the disgruntled member of CAN Community-Action-Network. I copy the info here because it contains valuable insight about how this "pyramid/ponzi scam" works.

Yes, I am a member (for now, this response will probably get me banned LOL)

In my opinion, yes. The "portal" program has been stalled for months, many members are questioning where the "millions" went from that. They are promoting the portals now, but hold on to your money there. So many of the original members have been alienated or banned for asking honest questions that none will buy up which kills everyone's opportunity below. Where this had always been advertised as a straight line-no one moving ahead system, the CEO changed this and is allowing people to jump over others! Certainly not what I bought into those months ago. I bought a city site, and lost thousands on it. I also purchased a business listing of my own in the World Trade Directory in Sept 04 and to this day it has not shown up on the site. As a customer, I was refused when I asked for a refund! Right now you wouldn't want to be a member....it's a slaughterhouse in the forum of member bashing & slander. There are members that still very strongly believe and follow the leader without question. There are also many members who have formed a "support" group to help each other through some heavy financial loss (many invested ten's of tousands in the micro/maxi/mini portals) work together to find good, honest programs, etc. and they are getting blasted by CAN and "loyal" members with threats of lawsuits if we don't stop talking about them The card issue is a serious one, and it has come to light that the whole thing is a fraud, that CAN does not have VISA approval and there never will be approval from them. Thus, the ATM card, is nothing more than an affiliate program launched by the CEO through another company. If this is the case no one's money is insured or safe. Again, members are asking questions that are being answered by the CEO having an "original" member come of out of the woodwork and send the entire membership a two page letter about how great and honest the ceo is. It was pathetic and extremely unprofessional and of course they wouldn't let the "complainers" do this! They long ago disabled members ability to communicate privately with each other, all tough questions and negitive posts are immediately deleted. Not once has any proof been offered by the CEO nor would I expect to see proof positive!

On top of all this, many members have been hit with fraudulent charges on our credit cards from the pymt processor CAN was using months ago. $39.95 & multiple $1.99 for XXX rated site! Yeah, I got hit and it's been a royal pain. I am covered with the bank, but my card had to be closed. Was this the fault of the "other guy", was someone hacked or information sold? Big questions when there already are concerns about the CAN programs in general.

Based on the "estimates" of members/promoters the $10 micro portal should have been to level 12 in just over a year. They estimated 6 to 9 weeks per level. I have been in level 2 for nine months with 6000 ahead of me and now the "choosen" being allowed to jump over that! Being a choosen one involves doing daily tasks set by the CEO that he tracks, you earn points to move ahead with & a few cents cash. If you don't do the tasks he threatens to strip you of points, cash and membership! Sounds like extortion to me? What say you? Once I "saw the light" my promoting stopped, couldn't stomach spreading something I could not believe in 100%.

Bottom line is that it would be so easy to put an end to the questions and theory being developed, but the CEO is taking that "I don't have to show you mine" attitude and anyone who complains is either completely ignored or banned with accounts frozen and no refunds!

CAN is still alive - still taking money from gullible naive newbies.
Continues to take money, but never pays out to members. :flame:
