From time to time, I like to show examples of not so smart owners to illustrate the nature of the scam.
Here is an example of one of the dumbest sites I have seen in a while. Better look at it fast, because I bet it won't be up for long.
http://electronics4muchless.tripod.com
First of all, this is what is in the FAQ section. This is one of the dumbest answers I have ever heard to this question.
Is this is a Pyramid scheme?
Up and down, not down and out, and out, and out...
No. There are no pyramids involved. It is a Ebook Exchange Program.
What does that even mean? How does that answer the question?
Here is probably the dumbest question and answer I have ever seen. This person is running a matrix site, so why would this question be on the FAQ? Even worse is the answer.
Is this a Matrix Scheme?
No!!
This is a Ebook Exchange Program! You buy an Cd with an Ebook code attached and when it is time to receive your product you give us the Ebook code in exchange for the product
So, this person is running a matrix site, but when asked if it is a matrix scheme, he says no.
On the ebook page, where they are supposed to tell you about the ebooks that you can buy, there are pictures of the prizes, but no pictures of ebooks. In fact, there aren't even any titles of ebooks under the ebook section. In fact, this is on the page.
Our E-Book is like no other!
It must be like no other, if it doesn't have a title.

Thanks for sharing the laugh.
It's sad to see such a poor copycat.
One of the most poorly thought out sites so far... :head:
Just for kicks, I reported the site to Tripod to see what would happen... probably nothing...

concerned, do you remember one matrix site where the owner actually states that matrix-site is a pyramid scheme? I thought that was the champion of stupidity, or honesty!?

Quite the contrary is true actually. Tripod takes these sites down relatively quickly in most cases.

I like this one too:
Shipping and Handling
Shipping and handling is usually free of charge because its just easier for us to deal with it rather then go through the hassle of having the buyer pay different prices depending on there area of residence. In some incidences there maybe a small shipping free if we have to ship out to places far out of our reach. But other then that shipping and handling is already taken care of.
What the heck does far out of our reach supposed to mean??? My favorite is definitely the previously posted answer to if it is a pyramid scheme. The answer is senseless... too funny!

Antarctica? Nova Scotia? Maine???

There have been instances where I've paid an extra $90 or more to ship to someone's house in areas where that house is in the boondocks.
Nevertheless, this site is so poor, I doubt anyone would actually purchase their eBook... Looks like it's designed by someone who knows little HTML.
I did submit the URL & email address (suffocatingm) to PayPal. Think I'll scoot on over to Ebay and see what auctions they have going...

They know little html as well as spelling. There are a lot of misspelled words. Anyway, you all know that in order for these sites to be 100% successful, it will require everyone on the planet to make a purchase, and then many more creatures from other planets around the galaxy to cycle off every person on earth. In that case, I can see how they might need to charge a shipping fee for those "places far out of our reach." After all, I am sure that the planet Malmac is too far out of their reach, but they do need the customers from that planet to cycle off the rest.

Not sure which was more comical. The site or some of the remarks made here by the posters. :)

I'd say my vote would have to be for the site since we are purposely making goofy comments. This site owner probably thinks he sounds pretty intelligent even though nearly everything has mispellings and the notorious FAQ's "answers"(not that they could really be called that). I mean he probably understands what the answer: "Up and down, not down and out, and out, and out... No. There are no pyramids involved. It is a Ebook Exchange Program." actually means. Now that is scary! :D
Hmmm... Really to be honest the more I read that "answer" the more I think I know what he meant by it. That is even scarier! I think I am getting used to "dumbing" myself down to understand some of these weird things that I read online too much! ;)

Wow, what a surprise, this matrix site was closed down  .... the site now states:
The page you are attempting to access has been removed because it violated Tripod's Terms of Service.

Seems pretty obvious to me. Maxtrix / straight-line lists go "up and down". Pyramids go down, and out. Just visualise a typical maxrix and pyramid list.
Perhaps the site owner was dyslexic, I hear dyslexics are very visual-thinkers.

I believe you are new here. If you haven't noticed, the shape of the scheme isn't really relative. In the end, many people will get scammed. My point in showing this was that the owner cannot put his thoughts into words properly. It is also irrelevant what the answer is in most cases. If you have this question in your FAQ section, then it is there for a reason. Obviously all legitimate businesses never have FAQs that ask if they are scams. In my experience, if your FAQs have a question about your system being a pyramid scheme, it is most likely a pyramid scheme.

Oh of course. I wasn't discussing whether the sceme would work or not, I think that's pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain. I was merely pointing out that your specific criticism was a bit off the mark that's all.

I don't think it was off the mark. In fact it was right on. Like I said, there are professional ways to communicate to your customers, and unprofessional ways. Being ambiguous is not a very professional way to do it. Also, bringing attention to your site by mentioning the phrase "Pyramid Scheme" is also highly unintelligent.
