I have seen alot of these auctions lately where car deals sell on ebay how much over msrp you will pay when you buy the car. To me it seems as though they are skipping ebay fees and should be reported.

wow, thats interesting. It would appear that the ebay fee is being cut-short, because the car being advertised will actually sell for much more than the auction itself. I'll send a note to ebay asking them to review and comment. I imagine they will see that for what it is.

The reason I found out about this is a local tv station is doing a story on him doing this tonight. He says he is "helping" people get the new hard to find Mustang by doing this, I think he is just trying to make a few extra thousand dollars and cheating eBay fees.

That is pretty interesting. Ford dealers appear to be making a pretty nice profit off the new mustang, I didn't realize demand was that high.

There are a few of them out there, and I agree that they appear to be trying to get by some ebay fees.

That ticks me off because someone could bid 20 grand on the car not realizing that they are bidding on how much more they will pay over the MSRP, MSRP is $32,000 on that car so the end price could be $52,000 for a car only worth 32 grand. I thought about going over to that dealership and saying something to them since they are about 20 min from me.

That's an interesting scenario. I wonder why anyone would pay over MSRP for any vehicle. There is an abundance of new Mustangs in the Houston area but if there wasn't, one could very simply order one from the factory if willing to pay MSRP. :) I must admit, dealers here aren't discounting much on new Mustangs at the moment but that is the reason there are plenty of them around. They weren't discounting much on the new Five Hundred Limited either last month but I managed to get $4,000. off MSRP. Just threaten to order one from the factory thru a different dealer to get their attention. Works every time! :)

actually i remember hearing lawsuits against car dealerships using the phrase "OAC". A person would see $199 OAC and demand to get the price cuz they didnt know what OAC stood for. So, I wouldnt be suprised if some legal type person saw that, but the $1000, or whatever, and demand to be sold for a total of $1000 or a lawsuit.

Its not worth trying to bipass ebays fees if its not really legal. I mean when you go to any auction, typically your bid is what you are willing to pay for it, and if its honored by the auction house thats what it sells for. So, i dont see it any other way.
