eBay Matrix-Auction Scam is Nearly Over
Over the past month, eBay users have seen a significant decrease in auctions for "$25 PS2 systems", and "$150 Plasma TV's". Many are wondering how it happened, and what these auctions were about. Sometime around April 2003, eBay enforced stricter policies on information auctions. The auctions that they canceled were those that offered expensive electronics, but really turned out to be a sale for an internet link where the bidder could be placed on a list to receive the electronics, or other items. That list was run by a "matrix" site, and it is the goal of MatrixWatch.org to bring the awareness of these sites to the public, media, and government. So far, our campaign to hinder matrix-site auctions on eBay has been successful. Due to the organization of the "eBay Watch Dogs", most matrix-information auctions are canceled, and the sellers penalized.
