If you are looking to get a merchant account with cardesrvice international. You might want to think again. Our horrible experience with them was nothing but a nightmare and showed us how big corporations like them scam innocents like me and thousand others to pocket their money and the interest of their money.
The story starts here,
In Feb. 2005 there was a mass spam email that was sent to many online retailers like myself.
Advertising for merchant account.
I have seen how easy it is to actually get a merchant account and start accepting credit card transactions right from my site. So i went ahead and signed up for it.
In a matter of no time me and for sure hundreds of other innocent online retailers have singed up to get their merchant account. They let you do business for 3 months or so. Then they will Have your account suspended and funds put on hold. The reason that they give, could be anything. But most likely it will not make much sense. The reason my account was put on hold. Is because i had one charge back($150) from a customer that actually received his package. I faxed them the shipping receipt and USPS document that shows the person actually had received this order and signed for it. But as i mentioned. This whole thing didn't make much sense. I had more than $9000 of transactions processed in the month of April. That's when the chargeback was initiated. They have taken the funds of the chargeback from my bank account. Held over $6000 and closed my account.
The biggest problem still to come. Those scammers did not answer no phone calls. Didn't answer no emails and never called me back. Over 3 weeks of agony. No response what so ever. The only respond that i got. Was after a mass email that i sent to every single department and tried to send to any manager or supervisor that i could get their email address. The response i got was not much to my surprise, was to confirm that they will hold the funds for 6 months.
So here is what those scammer are making out of this.
They attracted hundreds of online retailers to sign up. After 3 months. They suspend their account. Hold the funds for over 6 months and pocket on the interest. Typically, if they had 100 online retailers that signed up for their merchant account. Each with an average of $6000. That adds up to $600,000.00 in the first three months. Put that amount in a bank for 6 months and see how much interest they will gain. Not just that. But after the 6 months have passed. There is no guarantee that you will get your money back!
We encourage anyone who was caught by the same scam to email us so we can gather enough people to get them back.
Together we could stir things up a little bit for them.
Update 18th of May 2005. Up till now. There is no way to get anyone to answer the phone. They will have someone that can't do nothing but to transfer you over to some other department. What department, wait, I think it’s called the department of ghosts. No one for over 3 weeks had answered one phone call. You will get the voice mail 100% all the time. I have called during different times during the day. Also, left my phone number over and over, but still no one will call.
They will not answer any emails!
I hope someone out there has already started a lawsuit against them. Let me know and i will join.
