Many of you will notice that Matrixwatch is now employing the use of banner advertisements. In the past we have refused to SPAM our members with such ads.
Unfortunately, protecting the consumer from scams is not a cheap endevour (see our operating costs here (http://www.matrixwatch.org/modules.php?name=Content&file=viewarticle&id=11)). These costs are far too much for the administration to have to cover every year. Donations have dried up, and thus we are resorting to other means of income. We are still tinkering with which banner service(s) we are going to be working with, so expect to see some different things over the next month or so.

I have to say I was dismayed the other day to see the Google-style advertising. One of the advertisments displayed was for an adult forum - and had several swear words displayed on the MatrixWatch site. This could easily have been seen by young children, and is not suited to this site.
I hope that this will not be repeated.

Our moderators saw the same advertisement you did, and we dropped that form of advertising immediately from our site. Those types of things are not appropriate here at MW. We apologize if it offended you or anybody else. Thats the problem with 'search' based advertising, you never know what you are going to get.

Now I am REALLY confused!!
I thought this site was all about bringing down matrix sites, and internet scams such as the free ipod sites. Can you explain to me, then, why your new Kanoodle (?) advertising is actually advertising a free ipod site??

If you are so concerned, why don't you report the offending ad to the site admin who will then remove it?

I'll state again that we certainly try to filter out Kanoodle advertisements that are against our values here at Matrixwatch, however its not a perfect science. I have yet to see a free ipod ad on the site, and i'm on it for many hours a day. You'll notice that even over at scam.com, they have scam sites advertised in their 'power-links' section, because they also don't have 100% control over the rotation ads on their site either. I'm not saying that its acceptable, but we work to prevent it where we can.
I'm glad to see that you're taking such notice to detail on the Matrixwatch site .... keep up the good work
