View Full Version : PayPal and YMMSS

As most people know you cannot use PayPal for purchasing YMMSS EPC's. The reasons given by YMMSS are that PayPal is not an international processor (which seems unlikely) and that PayPal has a habit of freezing accounts when seeing a large number of purchases.

YMMSS did use PayPal at one time, but stopped some time ago. Those of us familiar with PayPal and the Matrix world know a little more information that may be the reason YMMSS does not use PayPal.

When EzExpo went down, PayPal was one of the payment processors brought under suit for the actions of EzExpo. One of the results of the lawsuit was for pay processors to instantly freeze any account running a Matrix Scheme (perhaps one of the most important things Matrixwatch has been able to accomplish). Since, by their own admission, YMMSS is based off the Matrix model, either they had their accounts frozen because of this, or because they were notified of this TOU by PayPal.

Granted, I have no actual proof of this being the reason, but it is unlikely that there is no correlation between the two. The fact that YMMSS is still based off the Matrix model means they constanly run the risk of having their payment processor freeze thier accounts, and most likely one of the reasons why YMMSS has been in the process of creating its own payment processor.

So, whenever someone asks about using PayPal with YMMSS, and gives you an answer about freezing acounts for "no good reason" now you know what the reason is. :)

When asked in their forums, the responce was you CAN use paypal. When you make a purchase use your paypal card.

I think their argument against using paypal before was that iits not an actual currency, whereas egold and whatever else they use is based on gold, or something. Maybe my memory is from some other site, but I think this was ymmss.

It sounds like what ymmss would say to try to confuse the matter just enough so that hopefully people wont ask questions.

Do they mean to use their Paypal credit card (visa/mc)? Or is it that they accept a credit card payment using Paypal (you don't need to have a paypal account to do that from what I understand) ....

I think it was meant a visa credit card from paypal. Let me see if I can find the thread, but it was probably deleted already.

Hi Rae

Yes, you can use your Paypal debit card to join YMMSS and purchase EPCs via the credit card payment option. This option accepts both credit and debit cards that have the Visa or MC logo (Paypal debit card has MC logo). You can then fund your Paypal account directly from a checking or savings account .

jokachI'm not familiar with the YM post that Dreamer is referring to, but PayPal also issues a MC debit card that draws funds directly from your PayPal account. When making a purchase from any merchant, however, you can claim that it's a credit card and PayPal will give you a cash-back bonus when you use it as a credit card instead of debit card.

Wouldn't that work just like a regular debit card, pulling money straight from your checking or savings account tied to the card?

One issue with PayPal is the chargebacks, and I am thinking a debit card wouldn't have the same issue with chargebacks as a regular credit card.

When I registered at the YM Forums - I noticed in their TOU the following:

g) You will not copy and retransmit any information out of these forums without first getting the permission of the original author of the message.

I have seen numerous copied posts from their forum at MA, and wonder if permission was granted for these, or do members here not respect other forums and their TOU?

I'm not familiar with the rules of the YMforums since I'm not a member, but did you know that thread hi-jacking is against our Forum Rules? Don't you have any respect for these forums since you violated our Forum Rules?

Thread hi-jacking when you post something that is off-topic for the thread. If you want to start a different thread on this topic of copying from other sites, start a new one as it might be an interesting conversation, but don't hijack someone elses conversation.
