Hi there,
I've recently ordered a psp as well and am fearing the worst. They charged me about £12 more than what was on invoice as well.
Has anyone actually been able to cancel their order (through MyDV) and get the money put back on their credit card?
I've read that some people have taken it up with their credit card company, has anyone managed to get their money back that way?
Whatever you do, don't order from these guys, it's a massive scam.

Do we know if this is "business" is actually based in the UK or the USA? I know the URL points to a UK site, but I think I already mentioned that this doesn't necessarily mean that its based in the UK. The whois information indicates that the owner is from the US.
I stronly suggest that the people who believe they have been ripped off, to make a report to the Better Business Bureau to start. THen from then, move to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center. Both agencies are very prompt in investigating these types of problems, which from what we've heard, seem to be quite widespread ... although the chances of you getting a refund or justice is slim in these cases, it helps protect other consumers.
You can contact the local/national BBB at http://lookup.bbb.org/ or the IFCC at http://www.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp

Well i phoned my bank today and told them everything, sure enough she started to chuckle. She told me the call she had before mine had exactly the same problem with the same company!!
I now have to wait 30 days from date of payment, which isnt far off now anyway, thanks to there none existent delivery system. Then they can fully dispute the charges from my account.
I would still like to know how you got on with you refund from MyDv AgoodWin..

As if by magic the phonelines work again, i too phoned them today. At first they gave me age old information saying yes your order was dispatched on oct 3rd and should be reaching you in a couple of days. I replied thats not true at all as the last person i spoke to told me it hadnt been shipped at all and id be waiting till yesterday for it to be shipped but i still havnt got a dhl tracking number! Then i asked for a refund, the woman started blabering on about my dhl tracking number at which point i told her to be quiet and listen to what i said "I want a refund there is no need for a tracking number" very slowly and drawn out as i could..
she then said ok i have got your information here and i will email it through now it should take around 24 hours for you to be informed about the refund...
too which i said ok i have also been charged over the ammount shown on your site!
she told me that in the next email i receive i would be asked about overcharge information and the refund will be processed..
i really didnt want to leave it there and put the phone down so i said, im a bit weary of just letting this go on just another promise of an email in yet another few days because your customer service is extremely hard to reach if not at times impossible.
a quick apolagy was given for the wait, but she didnt have the details to refund me at her dissposal and it could only be dealt with by the email i would be getting.
reluctantly i hung up the phone.

Yeah sure I'll let you know how we get on, today is 'business day' 1, they have until Thursday to show some action (no email as promised yet).
I so wish my girlfriend had used her credit card not her debit card.
Anyone made a complaint to Barclays bank? I'm going to get my girlfriend to lodge a complaint with them tonight, do all banks require you to wait 30 days from the payment date if its a debit card? Who/what department should you ask for?
Even if its not a complete scam the fact that you get an invoice which says one amount and then get charged more is surely enough for the bank to dispute the charges?
Breezy, use that contact at watchdog! I'll send you copies of anything you need if you want to build a stronger case.

Just got through on the phone too!
Informed them of the overcharge and then said this would be refunded also. Apparantly the 'overcharge' only happens to 10% of their customers. Hmmm.
Told them this was not good business practise etc... but she didn't seem bothered.
As always, I'll keep you informed.

I have forwaded emails from mydv to the watchdog contact, i am at the moment waiting for a phonecall from her to establish everything thats happened and the high amount of bad feedback mydv is getting. ill keep you informed. i have a feeling the company will make us jump through hoops untill they shut it down and run. But i cant help thinkng its on too large a scale now i have spoken to three different people from mydv on the phone... this seems a little large for a scam

Don't mention mydv to me! I've had a the same problems as everyone else. Waited 3 weeks for delivery of my psp. Surprise! nothing. I have e-mailed mydv and cancelled my order. No reply yet though. Contacted my credit card company(mastercard. tesco)They were very understanding and say that there will be no problem getting my money back. Good luck to anyone having the same problems.

why are they going to refund me when the product is in the post (or not as the case may be).
also i know if it does turn up i will get a bill for the import tax which will really be the last straw.
i will ask for a refund after 2 days but how do i know it will be refuned.

Quick contribution. I bought a camera via Mydv on Monday. After having posted a question to them and not having recieved a reply, I found this forum and got rather alarmed. I called my credit card and they told me that a company called Nepine had deducted the money, and more then I had agreed on. Nepine.co.uk has a website with another telephone number which I called. I got through to a Lady called Linda in the US, she was also able to deal with my MyDv questions. The was appologetic about the extra charge, which happened due to exchange rate fluxtuation, she was going to refund me the extra charge. I called them once again, to ask if I could cancel the order all to getter, that was no problem either, I spoke with a very helpfull guy called Robert. Due to the fact that their US based their shipping times are longer, they use DHL. Their CS is 24x7, I was told. All seems pretty straight to me, so far
Market globalisation is a good thing as far as I'm concerned and if these guys do it cheaper, then thats great for the consumer.
Cheers,
Stijn

By the way I was also told, UK VAT would already be paid for in the US. Is this possible, how would they do that?

For you information. The number I've been calling, which has been answered straight away everytime is 02076694270. Please be patience with these girls they are just doing a job, not the ones to blame. Some are little bit smarter then others though. Both Linda and Tanja have been very helpfull and considerate, ask for them. Their English is as good as Americans get. Beware of the delay on the line, so speak slowly
(by the way I have no intrest in this company, except for the fact that there are humans answering their phone lines)
Best of luck,
Cheers,
Stijn

I made the horrendous mistake of purchasing a digital camera off this so called company last week for £214.99, I was actually billed £230.56. I immediately called the customer service desk and demanded a full refund, I've been promised this will be credited to my credit card in 48 hours, I'm not holding out much hope. Has anybody received a refund or taken delivery from this company yet?

I have just this minute received the following email from the customer service dept:
Dear Mr. ####,
We have processed a credit to your account for the original amount of your
purchase.
Be advised these refunds can take up to 5 business days to appear on your credit
card statement.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.
Thank you for your business,

It apears that no items ordered have actually been received and people are being told different stories as to why. It will be interesting to see if Riggsy does actually get a refund. My advice would be to ask for a refund from mydv, if you cannot get hold of them, contact your credit card company/bank.

I spent most of yesterday online and trying to call. No luck on the phone but did get through to Lisa on the chat thingy. All seemed very amateurish and useless. I believe this company has not thought its business plan through or is deliberately misleading people. Today I got through to a help line (Ryan, obviously in India, but polite and helpful) who gave me a load of guff about exchange rates. I was calm and kept asking for a cancellation and full refund. Eventually he accepted my request and has said that he'd pass it on to his "finance dept" (another underpaid overqualified graduate in a Bombay sweatshop, sorry call centre?). My advice: use the well-known companies and read everything you can about a smaller one you might have to use. MyDV is getting a very bad name for itself and rightly so. Hopefully it won't go down the pan before I get a refund.

I too bought from MyDV. I bought a Sony handycam for £259.99 back in October and when I checked my credit card they had charged £14.00 more than the invoiced amount and had also debited the money on the day of purchase. I started to get concerned as the delivery date had been and gone with no fixed date that the camcorder would be delivered.
I tried phoning the number on the web site and eventually got through to be told there was a delay of a further 7-10 days.
Sound familiar so far !!
I then started researching the comany and was very alarmed by what I found. I immediately contacted them again through the telephone number to cancel my order. I had a few problems cancelling the order but eventually a 'superviser' confirmed that the order was cancelled. I requested a full refund for the money they debited and they said it would take 7 working days. I emailed hem twice to confirm.
This was on Monday this week.
Well much to my suprise I received an email on Thursday saying the money was being forwarded to my account and would take 2-3 days to clear.
I checked today and the money has indeed been refunded, including the overcharge of £14.00
I still don't know whether this company is a sham or is just very badly run!!
I hope this brings some hope to all those of you waiting for a refund.

Just The Facts!!
Ok so after reading many posts on this Company I thought it worth a quick recap on what is known as a fact:
Facts
1. MYDV is Not Located in the UK
2. MYDV is overcharging due to ??Fluctuating Currencies????
3. MYDV is eventually shipping goods to the UK but in most cases they are not of UK Spec.
4. Warranties for Most Products bought from MYDV are not valid in the UK.
Fuji, Canon, and Sony have confirmed this.
5. The advertising message on the top right hand side of their home page "The UK's ...etc" is a lie.
----------------------------
The MYDV website is set up to lure UK Buyers to purchase products from them by advertising cheaper prices.
They are also using google to make customers believe that a "Sponsored Link" gives them some credibility-It does not they achieve a sponsored link like everyone else by paying the Highest amount for certain keywords in their Google adwords campaign (these are the advertising boxes that appear on the right hand side on Google search pages).
If you have ordered a product from this company and are in anyway concerned the first course of action should be to contact them (if you can get through) and request a refund, then if not satisfied contact your Bank or credit card company and ask what the best cource of action is.

Just dropping by to let you guys know that I actually received my PSP from myDV on saturday (19 Nov). It was originally due for delivery on 28th Oct. It seems my persistant ringing (everyday) payed off!!! I have also received my refund for the £12 overcharge on my credit card statement.
However;
1. My PSP game with an american plug so I had to fork out £5 for an american to UK plug adapter.
2. The instruction manual is in Japanese
3. No carrycase supplied as stated on mydv website
4. No 32mb memory stick supplied as stated on website
So I will be on the phone to them tonight giving them more grief and seeing what I can get out of them!!!
My advice;
1. Avoid like the plague
2. If you've already ordered, ring them everyday, bombard them with emails quoting distance selling regulations. Keep on their backs!!
3. Be polite, they won't listen if you give them abuse (I know its hard not too when you shelled out for something you havn't received)
4. Under reg 14 or 12 of the distance selling regulations they must supply your goods within 30 days of the original delivery date or the contract is null and void and you are entitled to a full refund within 7 workings days.
Good luck
(i'm off to play GTA now!!) :D

Gareth,
I see that you posted this exact post 3 times. I understand why you did so (to inform the MYDV community), but please refrain from doing so in the future. One posting in one thread is sufficient. Thanks for contributing here!

Hi,
I contacted my bank as soon as I was concerned that no goods would turn up and also the fact I was overcharged. They stated - Mastercard - that 30 days would have to pass from the date of purchase before any further action could be taken by them in reclaiming the money back.
It may pay just to keep them informed. Also keep a copy of any correspondence you may have with MyDV to back your claim.
I hope this helps.

Hello All
I managed to talk to Ryan (mentioned in my other post) who promised to refund the money for a camera £199.95, (Doh!, of course it isn't, it's £216.51 - exchange rate you know). Today I received written (email) confirmation:
Dear...,
This message is with regards to your order #*****. We regret that you have decided to cancel your order.
Your cancellation request has been submitted to our finance department. The money taken out of your account will be refunded within the next ten business days.
In case you have already received the product and return shipment is required, DHL will arrange for a return pickup in the next few days. Please expect a DHL invoice via email, as this will be needed to complete the return pick-up.
Regards,
MyDV Customer Service Team
I have also contacted DHL. I suggested any association with MyDV is bad publicity for them and they agreed and passed the description of my MyDV experience on to their fraud department. Same with GeoTrust (the secure payment service). One of the big gripes is that there is no last minute cancel option in the checkout. If enough of us throw complaints from all angles at this outfit we shall see caveat emptor change to caveat venditor.
We wait and hope...

Bravo for taking such action! This is the type of consumer activity that Matrixwatch highly recommends. We encourage everyone to take a positive role in getting their money back, and more importantly, protecting other consumers from getting into the same trouble!. The actions that Rodbox is taking could get DHL to launch an investigation.

Hi all, just found this site and read with horror. I paid for a psp in October and despite several promises of delivery nothing ever turns up. I rang my credit card company straight away and froze the payment while they investigate. I have also sent numerous emails to mydv and rang their number but to no avail. Funny how everyone always speaks to Lisa, for a company which claims to be taking on so many extra staff !! I advise anyone not to buy from this "company".
