I recieved an email saying it owuld be despatched on the 14th, but it turned out to be crap! I cant get through to the service team on the phone number but have tried that live chat thing!! It's also crap! the responses are automated!! I was shocked. Any progress with your order yet?

Based on the posts in this forum, I can tell you that some people have indeed received their items. Some in a timely manner, some not so. Some have claimed to have received their items, but it was not what they expected (such as a PS2 from a different country).

the guy who got his psp in the end also said it was a US version with a jap manual, but all psp's are universal arent they?? as long as its here by christmas and the language on the psp isnt swahili i wont mind, but its taught me a lesson, next time i buy off the net i think a bit of reasearch on the company first wouldnt hurt..

Ok you guys, i've just tried this number and got through first time.
0207 993 4696
Any of you still without any clear info, try this number right now. You should get through to them. I atleast know where I stand now. Apparently my order will be shipped out next week and i'll be notified with a tracking number. As far as I can tell by the way she was talking, they send out a batch of goods rather than single items, possibly saves them money i guess. This could explain the lengthy waiting time.
good luck!

We don't want to use the word scam, no. Your observations about their level of professionalism and organization might have some truth to it. Granted, it sounds like this company is taking A LOT of orders. They may have been unprepared for such success (so quickly anyhow).
As far as how long it took, I have heard lots of numbers. Of course, I haven't seen any actual proof (just people posting comments). Some have talked of over a month, some as short as a few days to receive their item(s). Many, many people are reading these forums and deciding to try to get a refund instead of waiting.

I'm not sure anyone can tell you that for sure other than your bank. Contact them.

Well I guess I'm prepared to put up with waiting. Not that I want to as i;ve waited long enough. But the price was cheap for what I bought, unmatched anywhere else so i'll just be patient. But I think I'll give them a miss in the future. I mean a US company posing as a UK one is taking the biscuit! there should be transparency when it comes to company identity, otherwise, why should anyone have trust in them?

You may wait as long for your refund as you would have for the goods in my experience.
I was charged $640.48 which when converted to pounds sterling by my credit card company amounted to an overcharge of approx £26. The initial refund I received was for $612.48 which meant that after conversion by my credit card company to sterling I was out of pocket about £15. After complaining further I did receive another refund for the balance.
This all took nearly a month from ordering to reach a conclusion.
You may draw your own conclusions.

As per my previous post I have been informed by my credit card company that if I cancel the order it would be classed as changing my mind and as far as Matercard rules are apparently I would not be able to make a claim and would be between me and the retailer....but....if I wait for 30 days and recieve nothing then I can make a claim off the credit card company.
Also worth noting that the cc company stated that if I recieve the goods and have been overcharged that they would cover the difference.
Hope this helps.

2 hours after ordering my PSP and after reading mydv horror stories I cancelled my card in a state of panic. It was a desperate measure and I'm not sure how ethical it is but I figured that if they can treat people so shabbily I shouldn't feel guilty. I got an email yesterday giving me a shipping date (21st Nov) but no money has been taken from my account. As the card no longer exists I'm not sure what the situation is. Some people seem to have money taken straight away and others not - it's a bit confusing

Well, word of mouth travels fast, so I don't think they have to worry about being unprepared for taking ALOT of orders in the near future.

Just The Facts!!
Ok so after reading many posts on this Company I thought it worth a quick recap on what is known as a fact:
Facts
1. MYDV is Not Located in the UK
2. MYDV is overcharging due to ??Fluctuating Currencies????
3. MYDV is eventually shipping goods to the UK but in most cases they are not of UK Spec.
4. Warranties for Most Products bought from MYDV are not valid in the UK.
Fuji, Canon, and Sony have confirmed this.
5. The advertising message on the top right hand side of their home page "The UK's ...etc" is a lie.
----------------------------
The MYDV website is set up to lure UK Buyers to purchase products from them by advertising cheaper prices.
They are also using google to make customers believe that a "Sponsored Link" gives them some credibility-It does not they achieve a sponsored link like everyone else by paying the Highest amount for certain keywords in their Google adwords campaign (these are the advertising boxes that appear on the right hand side on Google search pages).
If you have ordered a product from this company and are in anyway concerned the first course of action should be to contact them (if you can get through) and request a refund, then if not satisfied contact your Bank or credit card company and ask what the best cource of action is.

in a nutshell that, its a disgrace, thats why i actually thought they was a revitivitly a good company because i put 'psp' in google, (www.google.co.uk) and that came up right at the top highlighted so i felt as if its a big company and such....shown me up, i'm not going to cancel my order and it was near impossible for me to get the psp anywhere else, i just hope it gets here before xmas!!

I got my PSP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just dropping by to let you guys know that I actually received my PSP from myDV on saturday (19 Nov). It was originally due for delivery on 28th Oct. It seems my persistant ringing (everyday) payed off!!! I have also received my refund for the £12 overcharge on my credit card statement.
However;
1. My PSP game with an american plug so I had to fork out £5 for an american to UK plug adapter.
2. The instruction manual is in Japanese
3. No carrycase supplied as stated on mydv website
4. No 32mb memory stick supplied as stated on website
So I will be on the phone to them tonight giving them more grief and seeing what I can get out of them!!!
My advice;
1. Avoid like the plague
2. If you've already ordered, ring them everyday, bombard them with emails quoting distance selling regulations. Keep on their backs!!
3. Be polite, they won't listen if you give them abuse (I know its hard not too when you shelled out for something you havn't received)
4. Under reg 14 or 12 of the distance selling regulations they must supply your goods within 30 days of the original delivery date or the contract is null and void and you are entitled to a full refund within 7 workings days.
Good luck
(i'm off to play GTA now!!)

I too have been caught out by mydv.co.uk and have experienced the same as many of you, namely:
+ item not delivered when promised (on 2 occasions)
+ overcharged (£265 rather than £249.99)
+ they attempted to talk me out of cancelling my order, promising express delivery; I declined and asked them to cancel order which they did and promised me a refund in 5 working days
+ having received no refund, i called again only to find they had no record of having cancelled the order; this time i made sure (followed up with an email), but told refund in 7-10 business days.
I also had to prove to them i'd been overcharged so i sent them a scanned copy of my credit card statement (with everything blanked out except this transaction!). The refund is due next week and I shall let you know if it arrives... but I'm very doubtful!
I've also suffered from...
+ telephone numbers that don't work, have "full mailboxes" or just go dead.
+ a lack of manners ("can i have your order number?"... PLEASE)
+ being told certain people or departments aren't available and that I need to call back (e.g. told that only the order review department can cancel orders but that noone available; when i finally get through to this dept I spoke to someone called Sandra... only to find this is the same Sandra that answers the regular phone line)
They are not willing to give assurances that a refund has been issued... and blame the banks for it taking 7-10 days. This is nonsense.
DO NOT EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS SITE.
I suspect they'll be gone within weeks.

Well I received an email saying my Sony PSP has been delayed due to extremely high demand but it will be sent shortly. I called 0207 993 4698 and got straight through at 1130 this morning (UK Time) The operator agreed to refund the overcharge and stated it was because of the US exchange rate which has not been checked properly before the US transaction had been put through. My refund will be on my account within 10 days. (not so quick as the original debit!!)
He said the next batch of PSP's will be despatched on 28 November 2005 and will be received on 2/3 December 2005. I asked to confirm about the box contents and he said it DOES come with a 32Mb Memory Stick Duo AND Soft Case & Hand Strap.
Therefore, when it arrives, if it is not complete it can go back for those reasons.
I will keep you informed of my experience with MYDV - I will say one thing, although difficult, please try and keep calm and remain polite when dealing with these operators - it will always pay off!!

Hi All
Looks like i too have been turned over same as the rest of you overcharged met lisa met sandra no returned emails even spoken to lucas on the phone 12.30 today.
I want to cancel my order and get a refund but so far the (girls) will not help.
And lucas claims he doesn't have the details.
As my transaction was only saturday he tells me i have to try again in about 2 days.
Madness they were quick to take the money seems like they must have had it as soon as i hit the send button.
Looks like i have probably lost the lot.
Good luck to you all .
Next time i make a purchase i am going to a shop like i used to do.

I spoke to them today on the chat thing (as at least you can save the transcript as evidence). They seem to think the difference between Invoice and amount they nabbed from my credit card will be refunded to me (about £40) and that item will be sent this week (although they didnt sound overly convincing).
I have decided to wait the 30 days from the order and not cancel as have been informed that if I cancel i dont have a leg to stand on with the cc company whereas I wait the 30 days and then the cc company can take action. If I recieve it within 30 days then so be it (the cc company also stated if I recieve the item they will get on the case regarding the difference in invoice/amount taken)...if not then will pass it onto Mint to sort out.

I placed an order on the 26th November and after no less than 2 shipping dates (2nd Nov and 18th Nov) I had had no communcation from mydv and had to constantly phone the number from the website - the number on invoices and emails is redundant - just to be read the same old scripted rubbish. Try asking to speak to a manager, it seems the highest up you can get is the floor supervisor, who has no more power than the telephonists. :head: Using the contact form on the website, I sent a message asking when I could expect my product. Rather than the email I expected from the company I had purchased from, mydv, I received an email from another company, nepine, who low and behold have the same website as mydv (the same company methinks?). I now believe that shipment of my product was never intended so have cancelled (over 4 weeks later incase anyone thinks that patience pays off) and after reading the horror stories on the subject of refunding, I will keep a close eye on my account and keep you informed of any more shortcomings.

I was wondering how long it is taking people to get refunds when mydv say that it has been sent to their finance department? Assuming they are getting refunds that is!
They have said it will take up to ten business days, but obviously with all the furore surrounding the company I would hate them to disappear before this happens... :head:

The order completion email is fabrication!
They seem to send that out to pacify people when the 10-14 day delivery time expires. I think its to stop you cancelling or pestering them.
Its a total disgrace but hey... how many of us have been caught. Someone is sitting pretty and all those overcharges to boot!

The way that I understand it is that everyone who is persistent with their refund requests gets their money back. This usually is lower than the paid amount, but when you complain this also gets repaid.
Is this correct??
If so, then I do not see there being a crime being broken. Sure, theyre looking like they are a scandulous extremely unprofessional business - but they don't seem to be stealing money from anyone. Best that I can see is that although they are very reluctant, at least they ARE refunding people if they ask.

I spoke to Lisa again, at the same time , I got my friend to use another computer and talk to them at the same time as me, guess what? we both got through to the SAME operator, I told lisa i DEMAND a refund within 12 hours or i'll take serious action, she said she'll refer it to her "refunds department" I also told her I spoke to her about 2 weeks ago telling her to refund me but she told me I had to phone them up, she did'nt answer, she was busy selling stuff (which by the way anybody know what the hell a Scophscope is?!) to my friend! I continiously threw legal threats to her, then out the blues she tells me the company is ligit. In the end I said, i'll check my order within a few hours, and if I do not see a refund, I will take legal action and stuff... I doubt I'll get the money back but i've informed barclaycard so fingers crossed. Also I don't know if I'm allowed to say this: But anybody who does want to give evidence to their credit card company, (I haven't done this as I've given them real evidence) BUT, If you REALLY need evidence, just write up a fake chat session on ms word or anything:
