I saw in sigxs picture that u cld add it to the cart. I wld have purchased a couple of them anyways just to fight target and corporate misleading advertising. Some businesses will actually honor a typo like that so long as they only have to do it a couple times. And, if they refuse, than just return them. But, the title and description clearly was the laptop and it was in the laptop section. I would have tried anyways

It all depends on state. I know in NH a store doesn't have to honor a price if it is tagged wrong or in wrong place.. For instance; how many times have you seen (or done it yourself) decided not to buy something and just put it down anywhere. If you happen to put an item down where it is a $10 price tag and the item is really a $100. If price is close store usually will honor it, but a laptop for $29.99 and they will tell you to take a hike. Below is copied from their website. Don't forget you can only return 3 things a year to target and if it's electric they won't take it back if it's been opened. As long as the store has something it writting it is ok. It is up to the consumer to find out this type of stuff. Don't just assume the store is suppose to honor something because you think so.

My stance is I demand they honor that for that price..my basis see the below article from just a couple days ago:

Coupon Misprints Could Cost Casino Millions

POSTED: 2:22 pm CST November 20, 2005

JOLIET, Ill. -- A misprint may end up costing an Illinois casino millions of dollars.

Harrah's Joliet Casino said there was a mistake in about 11,000 coupons mailed to customers last week. Instead of being worth $15 or $20 apiece, each had a face value of $525 in cash. The company blames the error on a third-party vendor.

Dozens of gamblers crowded Harrah's customer service desk on Friday, and got angry when the casino refused to redeem the coupons. Customers were encouraged to trade the coupons for reward points. Some did, but others decided to keep their slips of paper.

The Illinois Gaming Board ruled that Harrah's must honor the coupons. All told, the company could be liable for as much as $5.8 million.

You don't have a leg to stand on....
Target has covered their butt and the Law allows companies and individuals
to make mistakes
You would have to prove this was intentionally done to mislead and to show a pattern of such actions

Your Casino comparison is a totally different case
They have strict regulation because of the nature of their business

Besides any reasonable person would know it was a mistake seeing the photo didn't match and the description didn't either aside from the rediculously low price
Even if everything matched and the error was just the price you wouldn't have a case
Target may send you a coupon or gift certificate etc just for good will and
to shut you up, but they don't have to

Actually, misleading advertising is a problem, and not honoring a price can get a business in trouble. If a $2.99 item is constantly being rung up as $3.99, they could have overcharged thousands of dollars before its corrected.

Its up the individual company to make good on a price. My brother did something similiar years ago when a product that had a cost of $100 was advertised on bestbuy.com for like $20, took the add in, and after alot of haggling, and threatening to call the police because they accused him of doctoring up the printout, they eventually sold it to him at the advertised cost because it was there error.

Here is a link from snopes about a business that sold a stereo for 299 bananas (the fruit, not money)

Yes, here, if the scanned price in a store is overcharging you they have to give it to you for free
There is a law about it due to abuse of scanned prices which turned out mainly in favor of the stores (big surprise)
That has nothing to do with this case where the store would be losing money and it isn't misleading anyone

Mistakes in printed ads and web sites happen all the time

One of the reasons I don't shop at Target is the hassle of trying to follow up with them if there is a problem. Anywhere else I shop, returning or exchanging a purchased item is a breeze as compared to Target. :(

Two years ago United posted $0 fares between Denver and New York, Washington, Chicago, Atlanta Baltimore and Dallas, etc. After adding assorted taxes and fees you could have traveled round trip for about $16 -- if you had exploited it early. They had to honor the mistake.

yep. I work at a company that supplies services such as, printing, data processing, investor distribution mailings, web designing. You name it we do it. But.......if we have to farm out a job and the vendor makes a mistake, we take the rap for it. We settle later with the vendor if it was their error. Same as the Casino. If they approved a proof of what they wanted their printer to print, and the printer printed something different, it's still the Casino's responsibility but they can settle financially with the vendor later on. Stuff happens. Pay's to be careful. :p
Usually everyone is in a hurry to get the job done because it sat on someone's desk too long and that is where the mistakes come in. :nono:
I guess you should pursue the Target thingy if it is actually worth it. They
have the money to support it.
Sandster has spoken
