To all MyDv victims. :weep:

Lets get some revenge by taking action. Everyone please send your complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority via the link below:

www.asa.org.uk/asa/how_to_complain/complaints_form/

This body should, if enough of us inundate them, do something to save others from falling into the same trap we did.

Since the company admits that its based in the US, here are some complaint links that have worked in the past:

The federal trade commission - (equivalent to the UK OFT)
http://www.ftc.gov/

The internet fraud complaint center - they investigate ALL reports they get, so the more that get sent here, the more of a chance they might take action:
http://www.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp

Remember, keep your complaints professional and avoid being nasty and malicious.

Good links. :applause: We do need to complain to these consumer bodies otherwise they can't help and will think there isn't a problem. It also needs as many people as possible to do it not just one or two . So if anyone has had a problem lodge a complaint with at least one or two of these organisations.

I have sent a complaint into several of them now.

Well said Churchward!

I have emailed all of them and have confirmed complaints logged by over half.

If we all do it something has to be and will be done!

Has anyone considered lodging a complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney General's office? Here in the US, this is the governing body when it comes to consumer complaints, and since MYDV is located in Massachusetts, it might make sense to let them know that this is going on! Check out our "File a Complaint" section (from the main menu) for a link to a website that lists all US Attorney Generals.

I received a letter from the Advertising Standard Authority this morning. To cut a long letter short, it says they can't do anything.

Thanks Mr Angry - I have written complaints to several of the addresses you suggest and it does feel good to have been able to sound off to somebody - though I really want to complain to those ....people.....at myDV.

Hi all,

Have been following the thread with interest, as I ordered a Digital camera thro them at the beginning of December.

Like most of you, I am still waiting despite countless emails and fruitless phonecalls, until today that is....

...I rang the number listed on their home page at 4pm this afternoon, and expected the normal "Mailbox is full" line. However, this time, an announcement about where I was phoning from and, to hold if I was phoning between 8am and 8pm.

Finally I soke to someone at the call centre who gave me a DHL tracking number. I kept him on the phone whilst checking the DHL website, and lo and behold, the goods are in the UK, having left the US on the 28th.

I'm not getting TOO excited until I have the camera in my hand, and checked that it does what it says it does, but at least things are progressing.

Will keep you posted !!

Not wanting to put a dampner on anything. But if I was you I would refuse the camera when it arrives without opening it or signing anything.

I imagine its gonna be alot harder to get your card company to refund money when you have it in your hand, if its Japanese spec and has no UK warranty, especially on the basis that it seems mydv have no real way of returning any goods within their 30day money back guarantee period.

If my Canon D20 arrives I wont be signing for it, just refusing it, unsigned.

But either way I hope it works out OK for you.

I was about to make the same comment. Many customers have reported receiving items that are not UK spec!

...how will you know WHAT spec it is until you open it ??

mercinary

You won't! It is a gamble. If you open it, and it isn't UK spec, and you want to return it, you'll have to go through weeks of attempting to get it taken back.
