Just to give a ray of hope for people who have ordered off mydv.co.uk and are concerned that they may never recieve their goods.
I have just taken delivery of a DV Camcorder from them that I ordered on 14/11/05 which has a full European guarantee (although the manuals are in every other language but English...but easily solved by downloading it off the web). Also came with US charger but £5 for an adapter.
They also overcharged my by about £45 but this was refunded as well.
The camera cost £840 from Amazon so have saved £320 so am quite happy.
Just thought I would spread a little good news for once :-)

That has given me some hope.
Can you give information about warranty? Is it from the manufacturers?

Glad you got your camcorder, could I ask, is it american NTSC video standard, or is it UK PAL video standard?? Do please make sure: either way it will film OK, but if its NTSC you will not get a picture when you attach it to a UK TV set (unless the TV is multi-format). Your British editing software may not accept NTSC format video. I guess you have checked all this out.
I cancelled my camcorder order, myDV sent it anyway, it was NTSC, I eventually got it returned to myDV and I am still £2000+ out of pocket.
I sincerely hope yours is the version you wanted! All best!

Yeah luckily the one I ordered was the NV-GS250 which is a PAL version of the camcorder, will give it a proper test later tonight but it should be ok.
The warranty I recieved with it was a European warranty, all of the manuals where in German, Dutch, Italian (but no English) and the coding of the camcorder indicated that it was actually from Germany.

Hi MrFibbleUK, did the company inform you about the date of your delivery, or did it just turn up unannounced? Thanks

Dear jjcass121,
My camcorder just turned up, after my cancelleation had been (verbally) accepted over the phone at myDV.
Dear MrFibble, you lucky boy!! Glad it was PAL. Don't worry about manual, no doubt you can download English version from website.
If it wasn't all so painful, this whole thing is actually quite interesting - I am very interested to see how it all ends. The tone of the posts is interesting in that, eventually we seem to get our issues more or less resolved. When my nightmare started, Oct 14th, the previous threads (that MatrixWatch erased coz a minority abused them) were in the main much less upbeat that currently, and far more alarming. Can it be that myDV is improving???? Dare I say that in this forum!!!!!
Don't worry, I am not going soft, I am as angry as ever at the treatment this company has dealt me. And since I need the camera for business purposes, is has that extra negative impact to be so held up.

Dear jjcass121,
Can it be that myDV is improving???? .
I have maintained that I believe MYDV isn't intentionally misleading anyone. Their story all along has been that they are a new company that meet unexpected early success. With that comes a lot of growing pains.
I haven't heard from anyone who did eventually get their product, or received a full (100%) refund....albeit in varying amounts of time.
One of two things is going to happen:
1: MYDV will have to close up shop due to too many refunds & potential problems with credit card companies / consumer complaints.
2: MYDV will iron out all of its problems and begin running smoothly.
For all of you folks, I hope it is the later.

Its great to read that this forum is solving so many customer problems but I can't help feel that if MYDV was to make two simple changes to there website most of these problems would never arise.
1. Clearly state they are US based.
2. Add 3% to their prices and remove this overcharging fiasco.
But as their intention is to mislead UK buyers into purchasing US products this seems unlikely.

I don't know how you can say that mydv arn't intentionally misleading anybody.
The fact that they are a US "Company" trading as a British one is misleading. The fact that they are charging more than they price stated is misleading.
The fact that they are selling items as fit for use in the UK is downright disgusting.
Each and everyone of us on here that bought goods from them thought we were dealing with a British company. How many of you would have even given their website the time of day if you'd known the goods were being sent from the United States??????? I know I wouldn't.
If they wern't trying to mislead anybody why doesn't it say on their website exactly were the goods are coming from, and how long they are likely to take to arrive, WHY because they know full well that nobody would touch mydv with a barge pole thats why.....

I agree. They (MYDV) should clearly state that they are US based.
Think about it this way though: If MYDV didn't overcharge, and you received your item in a timely manner, and you never found out they were US-based....would you care? Probably not! You'd probably be very happy that you received a product at a reduced cost.
I am simply giving MYDV the benefit of the doubt. I am not absolving them of how they have handled themselves, as I think it is deceptive. I think consumers should continue to file complaints against the company if poor service continues.
Long story short, only time will tell if they can get their act together. If they don't do it quickly, I'm sure the company will collapse.

Well to be honest with you, the item being cheaper wasn't the reason I bought a psp from mydv, it was the fact that they were supposed to have them in stock while Argos, Comet. Curry's etc etc didn't. Argos and Play.com are selling them (when they have them) for £179, and I would gladly have paid the extra ten quid, believe you me even if mydv where the most trustworthy and wonderful company in the world to deal with, i'd still rather have bought it from the UK (which I thought i was doing incidentally), because electrical items bought abroad don't work here without an adapter and then there is the hassle with customs it's a lottery as to whether you'd have to pay customs duty or not.
I wouldn't waste my time if I were you giving mydv the benefit of the doubt. Because believe you me this Jeremy Paradis or whoever the hell he is doesn't give a damn that there's a load of people in the UK, fretting as to A whether they have been ripped off or not and B worried that their child isn't going to get his or her christmas present this year. I'm in a fortunate position that i've been able to buy another one from the wonderful Play.com (who now have them in stock) but other parents may not be as fortunate, they may have had to save up all year to buy this for their child and that robbing s o b Paradis is laughing all the way to his american bank..

And another thing while I think on the payment for any item shouldn't have been debited from anybody's account until the items have been shipped, but when I checked it had been debited immediately. I thought it odd at the time because it was 9.oclock at night so how could it possibly have been taken so quickly, now I know how because in Boston it was only 4pm in the afternoon..

deek19790 - I am sorry but your action is now classed as fraudulent! To keep yourself in the clear you should contact mydv and offer to return the goods at their expense. If they fail to arrange collection of the goods, that is a different story. The fact that you have just told the world that you have the goods - you are putting yourself at risk!

I agree with ps999. If you keep the item, you are defrauding MYDV. Matrixwatch does not condone this type of behavior.

ummm.... I agree with Mercinary. I understand if you won't return the cameral to them if they don't refund you the whole amount, but resorting to credit-card fraud?? I'd suggest that you immediately contact your CC company and let them know what is happening. MyDv could easily contact the authorities and have you charged with CC fraud. You'd have to go to court, pay fines, and serve possible jail time.
Not a smart move. Two wrongs certainly don't make a right, and in this case, you are likely to make things very tough on yourself.

hiya,
thanks for advise, i have contacted the credit card company and told them about this, they told me that if i cancelled the order the next day and the camera was posted a week afterwards then i have not commited fraud, i have proof that the order was cancelled before they posted from them....he said that if you cancelled and they gave u a refund but posted then it is there mistake not fraud, i have also contacted mydv about returning the product as im happy to do so.
