I wanted to create a sticky where only the facts about mydv are posted. This can stand as the main reference point for folks that are new to the MatrixWatch forums.
UPDATE: MYDV has been slapped with a lawsuit, and is currently not accepting new orders! Click here to read more. (http://www.matrixwatch.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3508)
Here is what we know (from reported consumer experience) about MYDV:
<br>
The parent company is "Nepco"
<br>
Nepco owns a number of websites including:
mydv.co.uk
nepine.co.uk
gardenready.co.uk
lunacandle.com
oztool.com
pspuniverse.co.uk
<br>
These websites tend to offer electronics at low cost
<br>
Nepco is located in Massachusetts, U.S.A.
<br>
A large number of consumers who have purchased from Nepco's website(s) have reported being over-charged.
<br>
Item(s) ordered from Nepco's website(s) ARE being delivered.
<br>
Nepco uses DHL for delivery services
<br>
Time-to-delivery varies from a short period (a week or less) to a month or more.
<br>
Many customers have reported that Nepco is shipping items overseas and estimating each package value at $100.00. The speculation is that this is avoiding heavy VAT taxes on expensive items.
<br>
A large number of consumers have reported that delivered item(s) are from other countries. Due to this:
Warranty on the product could be NULL and VOID
Instructions may not be in English
Consumers may encounter compatability problems (adaptors, PAL vs NTSC, etc)
<br>
Nepco is honoring refund requests.
<br>
A large number of consumers are reporting that actual refunds are often short of the full amount owed.
<br>
Consumers who make repeat phone calls and emails requesting a refund of the difference ARE getting results (i.e. refunds of the remaining amount).
<br>
Both the live chat and 0207 are connected to call centers in Indian.
<br>
Goods sent from mydv go via a company called Kuehne + Nagel (a warehouse / distributor) - orders have to be sent from Nepco / Mydv to Kuehne + Nagel who then dispatch using DHL.
<br>
Nepco LP, the parent company to mydv, uses Hogan and Hartson as its legal counsel (http://www.hhlaw.com), more specifically James Hargrove at JHargrove@hhlaw.com, he can be contacted at +44.20.7367.0200, his secretary/paralegal is named Natasha Ratcliffe, she can be contacted at NRatcliffe@hhlaw.com - his profile is located here: http://www.hhlaw.com/professionals/detail.aspx?attorney=452
<br>
An emergency court order was issued on December 16, 2005 by MA Attorney General Tom Reilly to shut down the Nepco, LP company for numerous deceptive business practices, the press release is here: http://www.matrixwatch.org/forums/showthread.php?p=31059#post31059
<br>
On January 5th, all of NEPCO's websites closed down. While we do not have confirmation, it is believed that the closure was due to [URL=http://www.matrixwatch.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3652]NEPCO not being able to comply with an agreement made with the Attorney General's Office[URL].
I will add to this list as we encounter more information. If you have suggestions, please PM me or email me at Mercinary@matrixwatch.org.
