In light of my recent experiences with myDV I filed a number of complaints... These were with the Attorney General's Office, Boston newspapers, BBC Watchdog, as well as DHL and Google (as myDV have a sponsored link).

I have just received a call from the DHL UK security team. They have seen the information posted here as well as elsewhere and spoke to their colleagues in America. They were already aware of issues with myDV. Whilst they cannot refuse to send items when they are unaware of who the customer is in advance (e.g. a pickup is requested, customer pays in cash). They are hopefully not going to willingly do service for this company in future.

Google responded that:

In response to your email, I will review this advertiser's account to
check for incongruities. However, I suggest that you contact the Better
Business Bureau or Consumer Affairs division of the city where the
company is located, as they will be able to investigate your case and act on
your behalf. Such organisations provide a more effective forum for
addressing cases of consumer dissatisfaction.

Slowly but surely an impact is being made!

Forgive me if I'm missing something but doesn't this mean that if, (big 'IF' I admit), if parcels do eventually try to leave the MYDV warehouse they are even more less likely to get delivered, if the likes of DHL etc won't touch them??
I would think that DHL was probably the only secure link in the chain!

Cozzy:

If DHL refuses service to MYDV, indeed they will have a shipping crisis on their hands and any outstanding orders could be delayed.

That is one way of looking at it, but I think the fact that myDV tell people they are using DHL adds an air of credibility to their operation, which in my opinion is not justified...

DHL operate successfully because they have a solid reputation which an association with myDV could damage.

It is the same as consumers being reassured by the sponsored Google ad.

I was by no means the first person to complain to DHL, and I think companies like this should be made aware of these issues in the same way as the average consumer.

Yes, it is a pity if this affects people's deliveries, but I also think the bigger picture is important... Namely customers not being subjected to the broken promises and stress caused when dealing with this company...

Fair comment, hopefully DHL will stop doing business with them after they've delivered my PSP in time for Christmas!

I followed up on the letter template and have received a reply from the US AG who advise they are acting upon a number of complaints and wish to discuss my complaint further. Do as the thread suggests, email your complaint and lets get some legal retribution metered out.

The "Just the facts" thread should tell you what you need to know.

Result - after many emails regarding the PSP that I refused about 3 weeks ago, today I get my refund. Not only that but £1.50 up on the deal than what I paid, so fantastic, just shows you should never give up. Just to note I was getting nowhere until I used the letter template on www.mydv-ripoff.co.uk so many thanks Peter I owe you a beer.

Hi Shazbot
Can you let us know about specs and warranty information?

Arzel
December 12th, 2005, 10:51 AM
Yes, please tell us the specs, if it is a "Grey" import as I suspect you will be completely out of luck if anything should ever go wrong with it.

Dear Shazbot, really glad you got your camcorder, but I am sure you will check, as Weirid said, the video format. I ordered a camcorder (had all the usual problems, eventually got it sorted out after 8 weeks of hell, with refund), and myDV had sent a USA NTSC format camcorder. Useless.

So your camcorder will record, of course, but wont play back through a UK PAL TV, and wont import to most editing software if it is NTSC. I feel sure you must have checked this by now.

Hello, Just come to the crushing realisation that I may have been stiffed. Have paid for (they overcharged me £10.00) for 2 PSP's for my sons for xmas. It's now over a month and I have heard a dicky bird. Also tried to ring them on various numbers only to get the answer phone. Bother. . . .
