Harley,
Was your PSP a "Grey" import? Also could you see what value was listed on your DLH shipment notice.

Thanks for the info Shazbot. I think it is becoming clear that they are trying to bypass duty fees which would be classified as a blackmarket operation.

I know I mentioned this before, but has anyone told the Attorney General's Office about this???
It is something that really should be added to their investigation of myDV. But obviously they would need proof of it, and as I did not receive goods, I cannot provide evidence to give them, or I would!
Also, I have realised that whilst DHL told me they would not deal directly with myDV, if they are shipping through another company (as appears to be the case), then they are seemingly powerless...

I agree. I know that people that have eventually recieved their product are happy to just have, but they should still be reporting this to both the AG of Mass and the appropriate agencies in the UK. There really is no reason to not do this, if these products are indeed "Grey" (as it would appear) and your product should fail or not even work in the first place there is nothing the consumer will be able to do.
These product will have no warranty, and I suspect that myDV will not accept responsibility.

I have not looked at the psp throughly, i only checked it was in the box as its a christmas pressie for my child and i don't want them to know about it. i will let you know if its a grey import (how do i tell exactly?) All of the packaging is in chinese and the value on the package said $100 so it probably is yes. To be honest im not really bothered eiter way as it will just end up getting chipped so i can get cheap games.

The biggest thing you should be worried about is if something should go wrong with it. If it is a "Grey" import, as it most certainly seems to be, then if anything goes wrong with it you will have no recourse in which to get it fixed. Any implied warrenty is null and void by being a "Grey".
The fact that the listed value was $100 also implies that they (myDV) is attempting to avoid duty fees, which if it is the case, would be considered illegal.
Furthermore, being a "Grey" market item, you may not be able to play games which are not coded for the region you are in (not sure about the region coding for PSP, but it is something to consider).
However, if you are going to have it "chipped?" (assuming modified to be able to play any region) then much of this is little consequence since that action would void the warrenty anyway and make the region aspect a non-issue.
In any case I am glad you are happy with the outcome, but the general consumer should be aware of these issues when purchasing items (which does not seem to be the case).

Reports should probably be filed ASAP, since this info is now in the public domain.
I am assuming that the USPS would want to know about this, or some other agency which governs duty-related issues?

Hi
I received my psp console on Monday after DHl had attempted to deliver since Thursday to my home . MYDV only dispatch once a week usually on a Friday and i know that on the day mine was shipped they also shipped out another couple of hundred ( obviously cheaper for them to send in large bulk) but i do see that their website is now saying that the Value pack is OUt of Stock might be the reason why i only received the console pack without the extras. Ive been waiting since the 07 November for mine so i hope theyre now clearing all orders for Christmas ....

It wouldn't be a problem as
a) you should have the orignal invoice and b) normally they ask for the current value of the product.

I think you answered your own question here. Since the instructions are in japanese, the items were intended for sale in Japan. The item was not properly imported into the UK, therefor making it a "gray" import, or basically an illegitimate import, and not subject to the warantees.

I ordered my PSP Value Pack on the 9th November, 2005 and cancelled this order on 17th November, 2005, because I was unable to contact the firm and did not receive an email confirming my order.
Although the invoice, provided via myDV.co.uk home page (order history) showed the sum of £339.98, my credit card account had been debited in the sum of £366.60.
I did get a reply, around the 2nd of December, on an enquiry as to whether these consoles would be delivered in time for Christmas. The reply confirmed that the consoles would indeed be made in time for Christmas. The enquiry was made approximately 10-12th November. That is all I heard from myDV.co.uk, until my consols arrived unexpectedly on the 12th December, 2005.
These were supposedly PSP "Value Packs" and indeed, although I cannot read Japanese, the package contents (in the Japanese manual) showed quite clearly what should have been included in the box. Therefore it must be presumed that the missing contents had been deliberately removed. They were:
Memory Stick Duo 32MB
Headphones with Remote Control
Soft Case & Hand Strap.
I have eventually, thanks to Dorothy, managed to get through to myDV.co.uk today via telephone and the young man I spoke to - a Mr. Tom Lucas, was polite and helpful. He assures me that I will receive all the missing items in time for Christmas, and that the overcharge on my credit card would be rectified. Whether these promises will be kept, remains to be seen. Only time will tell. :)
I hope this brief history will be of help to you.

PS On the commercial invoice packed with the consols the "Date Shipped" is 12/8/2005 - value 100. Which is a bit strange as my order was made on the 9th November, 2005.

Remember that they are using American dating. So the date really is 8/12/05.

so the date shipped is the same delivered, does that mean it was shipped from the uk?, sureley it would have taken longer shipping outside the uk, is it a uk spec model?

No it is a Japanese import with a Japanese manual. However, the information regarding what the box should have contained were in "pictures" - thus verifying what had been "removed". :) - er I can read pictures but not Japanese! lol

It seems to be quite common to recieve boxes missing one or more items. This makes me believe that many of these items are probably refurbished items from another country. It seems pointless for myDV to remove those items.

Can you help me? I ordered a PSP from this company on 5 Dec but again, they over-charged me and after days of getting lied to from them and not providing me any information, I finally cancelled this order on 13 Dec but have heard nothing back in relation to my cancellation or the full refund that they promised?
Also, I made this transaction via a VISA Debit Card, so I'm so scared that I wont get this money back and it has left me without any money by which to make this Christmas present purchase from anywhere else.

@Yvonne - Give this guy a call (Bill 00-1-508-520-0060 ex 211) and ask him whether he has received a shipping request from Nepco (you need to quote your mydv order ID).
If he has then you will get your order in time (even if you cancelled it).

Actually this is a third theory (see my other post on one of the other threads), but a couple of things happen when a LEGITIMATE company refurbishes an item. They make sure that the refurbished item is of the same quality as a new item. This means they wouldn't ship it with parts missing. Secondly, they wouldn't use a beat up box, because they are still trying to say it is of new quality, they would have repackaged it. Finally, they are required to tag the box as "Refurbished" to avoid misrepresentation by companies that are dishonest like Mydv.
