View Full Version : How do I Return goods to MyDV.co.uk?

Does anyone know how to return "faulty" goods to myDV.co.uk?
I have made enquiries with my Credit Card Company and explained that I received a cancelled order on the 12th December - and that the order was incomplete, with items missing. (They are receiving at least one complaint a day about myDV.co.uk so do know the situation) - however, the only way I can get a refund on the two PSP's I received, is to return them and get a signature to say that myDV.co.uk have received the returned items.
If I return these to the "shipping address" on the label, DHL will charge me the sum of £60.02 for delivering them. They will not guarantee delivery unless they received a signature - without the signature I will not receive a refund. Indeed I will have to add the sum of £60.02 to the sum charged to my credit card account ie. 366.60 - which is the total sum of £426.62. I really can't afford this. :(
Anyone have any ideas how I contact myDV.co.uk to get a returns number etc.? Would be most grateful for some help.

Storic:
I recall someone on these forums mentioning successfully returning goods. I'd suggest using our search feature to search for "return". Only look at the search results from the mydv forum.

Storic, I am so sorry you are in that position.
I do not agree with some posts that the CC company can only be involved with refunds under limited circumstances - do not let your CC company off lightly. Press hard, be insistent that you have received faulty goods, and have tried to get the goods returned. You are effectively in dispute not only with myDV but also the CC. The harder you are, the more likely you will succeed.
As to getting myDV to take the goods back..... In my case they sent a wrong format camcorder. So I photographed the box (without breaking the manufacturers seal) and that photo proved the camcorder was unfit for purpose. I sent the photo by email to myDV asking them to collect the goods. Amazingly, after 2 weeks or so, I got an email from them saying it would be collected, and it was. If you can prove with photos or other means that the goods are not what you ordered, email myDV that evidence and aske for collection and refund. Be very insistent, in my case I emailed this about 5 times to most of the well-known email addresses we all know through these threads, including Mr Manikian.
Send the same ducumentation to the CC company. DONT GIVE UP!!!

Thanks to both of you. :)
I have again emailed myDV.co.uk and asked how to return these goods. I have requested a returns number and postal address. I have pointed out to them that these goods, without the missing items, are not fit to use for the purpose for which they were bought. Without a memory stick, for instance, you cannot use the PSP's and they did not state in their advertisement that these were Japanese imports and would need a UK power lead.
I am awaiting a reply from them.
My Credit Card Company have requested that I send the original advertisement (damn thing has now changed in price), the cancellation form I sent (printed that out) invoice and any correspondence with myDV.co.uk that I have had - they only date from the 13th December.
Now it is a case of wait and see, I suppose.
Thank you both for your support - I shall have to wait until my head stops spinning and keep my fingers crossed. :)

@storic - Do you know what firmware version they are? if they are 2.00 or below, you maybe able to sell them for a premium on ebay!

It will tell you under system information. Which from memory is under system settings.

Now I must confess, that "firmware version" has me somewhat befuddled.
The manual is in Japanese and is for both the "value pack" and "standard pack". It would appear - from the manual, the only difference between these two packs is the inclusion of a headset & remote control in the value pack. As previously state, the memory and soft case & hand strap are missing.
There is nothing at all on the PSP itself - not even the Sony logo.
The box states that these are "For Sale and Use in Japan Only" and the copyright symbol bears the year 2004 - Sony computer entertainment etc. The only reference to "2" is a small symbol on the box with a part "globe" in the bottom left-hand corner and a "2" in top right. Almost all information is in Japanese - er not a language I am very familar with. :)
To sell these PSP's, I would have to purchase a memory stick or the things won't work. :( - at least that is what someone with one of these PSP's tells me.
Any help?

The PSP will work, you just can't save games.
The psp's come with different firmware verison (eg 1.5, 1.51, 1.52, 2.0, 2.01, 2.5 and 2.6) the way to find out which you have is to turn the PSP on and go to system information, which is under system setting.
Any version which either 2.0 or below is worth trying to sell on ebay.

Ok, despite my suspicions on the new fangled gadget - I will attempt to turn it on. I do have an old power lead that will fit, and have put a 5 amp fuse in the plug, just to be safe. I'm not sure what amp fuse should be used for these things. Will let you know what happens, although I'm not having a very good week. :weep: To add insult to injury, my internet connection has become very unreliable (even purchased a new modem, only to find that the fault lies at BT end) and when it does allow me on - it cuts me off after 5- 10mins.
Thanks for your help - will let you know what happens - with or without an electrify perm! lol

PS I might be sounding a bit flippant throughout these exchanges, but trying to keep a sense of humour is the only thing keeping me sane. My husband is not pleased with me at all about all this. :nono:

It's not your thought. There are many people who have been caught out by this.

Right, I've charged the battery - everything went according to plan - and no electrifying experiences - and the "system software" is version 2. This was shown in the "system" menu.
The default language was, of course, Japanese but this is very easily rectified, so, apart from a memory stick, etc. and the overcharging of my Credit Card Account, I appear to have a working PSP.
Checking the internet - v. carefully this time. :) I found a 1GB memory stick for around £45.00 and games seem to be from £28.00 - £45.00. Smaller memory sticks are, of course, cheaper! However, I do not want to spend any more money on these things at the moment, and don't know whether I can sell them for anywhere near what I paid for them.
So it back to wait and see methinks. :)

To be honest the 32mb memory stick aren't much use. The first thing I did was to buy a 1GB stick.
Going back to the firmware version is it 2.01 or 2.00?

In the system information file it states "Software Version 2.00"
Is that what I'm looking for?

Yes - that is a good version to have
You should be able to get a value for them if you were to sell them. It maybe, if they are Christmas presents, that they would be preferred (I can't really say why but if you search the net for PSP homebrew, this should answer that question).

with regards to storic returning the psp: i too am in the same position as you, i have been trying to return the psp i got from them without a lot of luck, but i recieved an invoice from them a couple of days ago which i need to sign and give to DHL. DHL rung me the next day to arrange a delivery to pick it up, i just need to give them the signed invoice. I was told the mydv will pay for the return of the item. They just require an airbill number that DHL will give me when they pick it up.
So your best bet basically is to ring and email them requesting an invoice and for DHL to arrange delivery. to get their attention i stated that on the site it says you can return an item. And if they don't them its false advertising.
Once they recieve the psp back then hopefully thats when my CC company can come into play if they don't cough up the money.
Hope this has helped :)

myDV told me today that the only way to return so called goods is to tell DHL when they come to your door to return it to the original sender (That being NEPCO-myDV) if the item hasn't showed yet i would suggest you do this ,Good Luck!

I am unable to return these PSP's until I get an address to return them to. If I ship them back via DHL to the "shipping address", I will be charged £60.02 by them. At the rate things are going, I will therefore be down a further £60.02 and quite honestly, can't afford this.
See my posting regarding my latest update.
I'm flipping well stuck at the moment.

Can anyone advise on this scenario? Ordered PSP on 11 December, concerned so cancelled on 22 December. PSP arrived on 4 January (we accepted it because we really didn't know what the package was) and of course Japanese like everyone else's. MyDv did reply quickly about returning it. DHL phoned on the 7th but I couldn't phone back straightaway, they were shut on Saturday 9th and when my husband phoned on 12th DHL could not act on the advice of MyDv (only keep these details for 2 days). Of course now MyDv has been shut down they are not replying to my returns request. We do not want this PSP, as we bought one from Argos for my son for Christmas. How do we stand on getting our money back from the credit card company?

My Credit Card company told me to return my PSP to myDV and provde them with proof of postage for a refund. Like others I contacted DHL only to be quoted £58.07 for the return of the goods. I asked my CC company if they could claim this back and they said they couldn't. They told me to send it via Royal Mail, but send it recorded and pay for the insurance, I did this yesterday and it cost me £12.25. Now I need to fax the proof of postage to the CC company along with other proof for a refund.
I sent it to the address on the invoice which was.

If at the end of al this I'm only £12.25 out of pocket to Royal Mail i'll be pretty happy, although i'll be looking into getting this money back.

Are you confident that your card company will action a charge back now ? Am in the same situation - have a an order that I had previously cancelled but was delivered to my work address between Xmas and NY. MY company, Egg, have been totoally unhelpful and advised me to get independent legal advice !! Have not given up with them but would be helpful to know what other companies have agreed to in these circumstances.

Hi guys!
I'm just in the same situation as area bass14. I ordered a Canon camera and because I got so angry at their slowlessness, lack of seriousness and bunch of lies, I decided to cancel the order, and they said to me it was OK. I inoncently ordered the same camera somewhere else, which I got a couple of weeks later. However, guess what? I also got the camera I ordered to mydv. It's still unopened, as I was said in many many occasions once I got an email with the DHL return invoce, I could send it back... of course, that email never arrived, never mind my numerous calls. Next thing the company is closed down. I have an email saying my money was going to be refunded, but that's all. Any advice?? Is there a point in contacting my CC company (MasterCard)??
Many thanks!
