Rintintin, one of Matrixwatch's members, is reporting the following:
I have been informed by American Express this morning that myDV have gone into liquidation
I think this is worthy of its own thread!

Liquidation means that a company will sell off all of its assets to pay its debts. This is a part of bankruptcy.
In other words: keep fighting for those refunds. Don't even bother dealing with mydv directly. Contact your bank or credit card company, inform them that you were scammed, and the fraudulent company has filed for "Chapter 7" bankruptcy.

If folks want an overview of what bankruptcy and liquidation mean, check out the following link.
http://www.bankruptcylawfirms.com/Bankruptcy-Plan.cfm
A good overview is found in this first couple of paragraphs:
A detailed program of action formulated by a debtor or its creditors to govern the debtor’s rehabilitation, continued operation or liquidation, and payment of debts. The bankruptcy court and creditors must approve the plan before it is implemented.
There are two basic types of Bankruptcy proceedings. A filing under Chapter 7 is called liquidation. It is the most common type of bankruptcy proceeding. Bankruptcy liquidation involves the appointment of a trustee who collects the non-exempt property of the debtor, sells it and distributes the proceeds to the creditors.

Note that we (Matrixwatch) have not been able to verify that MYDV has filed for Chapter 7. I did find some useful information at the UNITED STATES BANKRUPTCY COURT - District of Massachusetts (http://www.mab.uscourts.gov/general.htm#VCIS):
VOICE CASE INFORMATION SYSTEM (VCIS):
By dialing (617) 565-6025 or toll free (888) 201-3572 from a touchtone phone, you may determine whether a party has filed for bankruptcy, and gain a considerable amount of case information. The service is available at all times. The information available includes debtor(s)' name(s), date of filing, chapter, attorney for the debtor, trustee (if any), date and time of the pending Sec. 341 Meeting, date of discharge, date of case closing, and general case status, such as "Awaiting 341 Meeting" or "Awaiting Discharge Order." Simply enter the debtor's name, last name first, using up to ten characters, and hit the # sign. Punctuation is irrelevant, and we recommend that you use all 10 characters allotted. If the debtor is a corporation, enter the first ten characters of the debtor's name and hit the # sign. A detailed description of the service is available at the clerk's office.
As noted earlier in the section on Case Information, you can also obtain basic information by calling our case information operators at (617) 565-8950 during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday).
I tried the automated system, entering "Paradies", "ParadiesJeremy", and "Nepco"...none of which produced results. If someone else has luck, let us know!

As posted earlier, I spoke with American Express this morning. They requested my order confirmation from myDV and an email from showing cancellation of the order. I have faxed these documents to Amex who have assured me they will reimburse me in full - no problem at all. I fully expected a battle to get my money back. Top marks to Amex for accepting their part of the liability. The guy said they were obviously well aware of myDV and followed it with the statement that they were in liquidation. I have had not problem phoning these people over the past few weeks but have been unable to get through today although I did manage an online chat.
