once upon a time....

i was searching through UK sites to find an archos gmini 402 at the cheapest possible price. Amazon had £240 (now dropped to £220) and everywhere else was abotu the same. Then appeared MYDV, a near xmas miracle? Well, obviously not.

At £193.95 it was the cheapest anywhere and the site looked legit. Doing a background check on the site (googling it etc.) didn't cross my mind! On the 30th November I ordered it.

After a week we sent the first email, a friendly, 'hey we ordered a week ago, just wondering if its been sent'. We got a reply back, friendly, telling us it would definately be here for xmas, and we would most probably recieve it in a few days.

Another week, nothing...we start emailing them nearly every other day, always the same, about to be dispatched, will recieve soon.

another week and still nothing. I begin to worry and we email persistantly. there is no answer when we ring, but emails and messages are always positive from them.

I decide to do a google search on wednesday on the site, just to see if anyone else has had delay problems with mydv...first site i find is www.mydv-ripoff.co.uk, my heart literally drops.

I find all the information and relate it to my dad (i'm only 16, so its on his card). I fear my gmini is never coming, he's a bit more positive. We email them and they tell us its dispatched and will be with us for xmas. Its the day before christmas eve today and still nothing. Tomorow is the last day of post. If we do not get it tomorow we are going to ask for a refund and contact our bank 9it was done on credit card).

and yes, we were overcharged, only by 5quid but still, its an arse aint it!

So my questions are:

1. will my gmini actually ever get to my house?

2. if it does come, will it be a UK device?

3. if it doesnt come what are the chances of a refund/being able to get the money back through the bank?

thank you. i have read through theses forums and other mydv related sites, but a lot of the stuff is contradictory or just damn confusing.

all help appreciated.

cheers

Chris, here are some answers that I hope help:

1. will my gmini actually ever get to my house?

Yes, it probably will. Eventually.

2. if it does come, will it be a UK device?

I have not heard of anyone else ordering this item. But no-one else has received UK spec, so unlikely.

3. if it doesnt come what are the chances of a refund/being able to get the money back through the bank?

You have to wait 30 days to do a claw back, but everyone I have heard of doing this has been successful. So yes, I think you would be successful in getting your money back.

Hope this puts your mind at rest. Personally I would suggest you get your Dad to contact his credit card company, explain the situation, get their advice and go from there.

All the best,
Dawn

Hi Chris,
I will answer your questions in order:

1. You may eventually receive your order but I doubt in time for Christmas.

2. If and when you do receive your order it will most likely be a non-uk product and not have a UK Warranty, Instructions, power lead etc. If a problem should arrise it will need to be returned to its country of origin (around £40 - £60 for insured and tracked delivery).

3. You will be able to claim for non-receipt of goods from your credit card issuer and get the money refunded.

At this stage it is worth contacting your Credit Card issuer to let them know the situation-It is highly likely they will have heard of MYDV and will know what to expect.

Good Luck and welcome to the growing club of MYDV customers who have been mislead into thinking they where buying from a UK Website buy this fraudulent company.

thanks for the quick reply.

other websites give the impression noone ever recieves their goods, not that they're latye, so thanks for clearing that up.

i could live with the item if it was american, so what country do most the items come from?

and i'll pass on your advice to my dad cheers.

update:
They haven't delievered by xmas as promised. As its bank holiday today we are contacting them tomorrow demanding the item be in our hands (not simply dispatched) by the 1st of January. That will be 30days after we ordered it on the 30th of November.

If it is not with us then we are demandiing ful refund, if that ios not recieved we will use the bank and put our names on that AG list. I'm hoping useless hope that my gmini arrives sometime this week. I just want this ordeal to be over. especially since its xmas!

A note to ChrisTP (and ALL mydv customers):

If you check out the Matrixwatch Victim Register (http://www.matrixwatch.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3508), you'll find that regardless of if you receive your item (or a full refund), you may be entitled to restitution (should a civil case be filed).

MYDV is deceiving you, providing you awful customer service, and is in violation of the agreement they made with the Attorney General.

My advice to you: join the victim registry!
