This is in reference to the matrix world using porn to advertise, but it also brings up a very American idiology.

Nudity in America is viewed very negatively. The word "porn" itself sounds angry when spoken aloud, and those involved in this profession are looked down upon by the vast majority of people. Yet in most of Europe and even Canada to a lesser degree nudity is not viewed negatively at all.

Here in America violence is also viewed negatively, however it is accepted much more readily than nudity, however in Europe violence is viewed much as we view nudity.

I am curious if others find this interesting or odd, without getting into too much of a debate on the issue. I know many people have strong feelings and are quite sensitive to this issue.

My opinion: we need to be more like Europe!

Now days... nudity is like nothing! You got to go back 2 generations to my grandparents for Americans to view it as being negative. When you think about it.. violence is more worst then nudity.

I never said there was anything wrong with it. However nudity is still taboo, for the most part, on TV, but violence is quite accepted.

I was simply asking a question, seeing if others thought similar to myself.

Yes, that is strange.....I consider violence worse than nudity, yet we condone violence on tv and not nudity.....hmm....very strange indeed.....

I always wondered that maybe the reason for our views on this are because we are such a young county when compared to Europe. And that may explain why we are so juvenile on our views about nudity and a few other things. The rub on this though is that it is my understanding that the USA has more sexual assaults, sex crimes and more violent crimes when compare to other countries that are more liberal about nudity and conservative on violence. I don't know if they are related, but is in very interesting on how we can be so uptight on nudity that we interpret as wrong and so lenient with violence which is clearly wrong. Yea -we are pretty messed up with that.

It does seem to me that America is changing course a little. Seeing that there is places now like South Beach and a few other places that allows nudity. Also, clothing appears to be more revealing no matter if the person is skinny or heavy. Nobody said change would be fast. Now our video games , movies, and television, probably more violent now then ever. :(
