This pre-launch, international company is called Kanosis. Look up their purposely rudimentary website (currently) at www.kanosis.com. A group of highly experienced, successful founders will launch this company in Q1 of 2006 with the intent of providing cost-effective technology and consumer services over the internet on a highly secure virtual private network (VPN) similar to the secure networks run by major corporations. Their vision is to provide viable alternatives to the insecure, costly productivity solutions of Microsoft and other technology/market monopolies while extending the reach of computing to the masses internationally.
What will Kanosis Offer?
The first Kanosis Application Service Provider (ASP) product called COIL® is up as a beta-test version on the website. COIL® is valued at more than $200.00 per seat to by Corporate America. This powerful system is being marketed through Kanosis to consumers for just $22.00 per seat.
COIL® is the technology that allows Kanosis – a “cyber nation” to protect its borders against malicious attacks from hackers, crackers, viruses, spyware etc. The technical term for this is a Secure Access Network (SAN). Kanosis will enjoy a level of security that is roughly equivalent to that protecting the nation’s banks, stock exchanges, government and other vital functions.
Kanosians’ data is encrypted to protect privacy and stored in mirrored servers located in 4 highly secure, state-of-the-art, data centers at various locations around the world. Their data is accessible globally.
Competition:
Google® and Yahoo!® are the competitors with the closest match in terms of functionality although they trail COIL® in several obvious and numerous subtle ways. Most notably they are not based on IOS/SAN architecture. Microsoft has essentially conceded victory to the virus propagators and has announced that their future lies with IOS and web services. COIL® is at least 2 years ahead of Microsoft’s announced plans.

What is the Market Potential of Kanosis?
To appreciate the potential of Kanosis, one must understand:
the incredible power of the internet both from a website and e-mail perspective;
the incredible power of network(multi-level) marketing(whether you believe in/like it or not);
the serious issue of data/information security online;
While the COIL® service combination is potentially attractive to corporations large and small, the $100 billion worldwide market segment that can REALLY use COIL® is the network or multi-level marketing enterprises such as Amway®, Mary Kay®, Avon® and many others. The large network marketing field organizations of these type companies continually need to communicate via e-mail, phone conferences, internet, etc. and struggle to coordinate it all with different communication mediums. COIL® is targeted to solve these issues by linking it all over the internet. By virtue of their knowledge and experience with network marketing, the principals are poised to take COIL® to their leading network marketing contacts once it is launched.
Faith-based and charity groups should also have a real interest in COIL®. Many organizations reach around the world, connecting with constituents in many countries speaking many languages. The power of COIL® to connect and translate should be very powerful for such activities.
Earlier this month I had a personal conference call with Alistair Kildey, one of the founders of Kanosis and the primary product/marketing person behind current and future product plans, along with Trip Wakefield and John Barker of the US Kanosis group. I was blown away with his plans for COIL® and follow-on products as I introduced five or six different personal/business service ideas for Kanosis including registered e-mails, personal health records, online certifications and others. This company has a very broad vision in its mission and purpose, and their plans for various B2C (business to consumer) and B2B (business to business) markets is really impressive.
Is Kanosis the Next Google® or Skype®?
No one has a crystal ball to see what the next astounding internet enterprise will be, but in my opinion Kanosis has REAL potential for being the next “one.” Skype® grew to over 100MM members in the first 18 months. Although Skype is a free download, it represents but one piece of what is being combined in COIL®. Skype® members can use internet teleconferencing today, and a visit to the Skype website will show additional features now like video calls. But none of it is in a secure network that Kanosis will provide at the launch. And of course, the far-reaching features of COIL® as an Outlook replacement(e-mail, contacts, calendar, task scheduling, etc.) PLUS internet VoIP and teleconferencing make the combination of voice and electronic mail very exciting. I will be interested to see when features such as Go To Meeting where many people can connect to and look at one person's computer screen will be added to COIL®.
A constant to keep in mind in this analysis is that downloading software off the internet is one of the major security hazards in online computing. When COIL® is launched we will sign-in online and go behind their very secure firewalls to use COIL® without exposing our individual computers to viruses/hacking through downloads.
What Does It Cost to Join Kanosis?
The initial fee to sign up for Kanosis is US$59.00 which includes the annual US$15.00 administrative fee and two months subscription to COIL at US$22.00 per month. The ongoing COIL® subscription fee is US$22.00 per month.
The Network Marketing “Forced Matrix”
An innovative network marketing approach being employed by Kanosis is the vertical or “forced” matrix. While the term “matrix” can raise suspicions about a “pyramid” scheme(see discussion below), in my view this method is a fair and equitable means of both promoting Kanosis, spreading the use of its services and compensating people for getting involved….all at the same time! Whether you love it or hate it, extraordinary corporate and personal success of literally millions of people worldwide over the past 50 years proves that network marketing WORKS!
Traditional multi-level or network marketing programs encourage participants to “recruit” new members by going “wide”(direct downlines) as well as “deep”(direct downlines recruit members for their downlines). Whether marketing a product or service, the challenge lies in how many “wide” people actually become effective in the program. Rather than the traditional 80-20(Pareto Rule) law that “in anything a few (20 percent) are vital and many(80 percent) are trivial”, in most instances it is more like 95-5 or even 98-2 for these traditional multi-level programs. As a result a tremendous amount of time and energy is expended to find the one or two individuals in every hundred contacts that “get it” and will expend the time, energy and resources to succeed.
The power of the Kanosis vertical network is in the "forced matrix".....rather than going wide and deep, the program is just deep. Thus each person subscribing to Kanosis can only sign-up two new members under them.....sign two under you, and then each of those two signs up two, and so on. So for all of Kanosis there will be but one global matrix including every individual or group/corporate member using Kanosis services.
The beauty of the “forced” nature of this program is that upline members in the matrix making contact and enrolling folks under their Kanosis ID (in the case of this web sites owners use his ID dbeeson ) will cause those new subscribers to be automatically slotted in the first available slot in their matrix, thus benefiting members downline of their matrix. Naturally downline members fill a member’s matrix as they enroll contacts. This dual upline/downline enrollment benefit approach is a significant difference from traditional multi-level marketing where the efforts of the downlines significantly reward the upline members with overrides. In fact, a Kanosian subscriber can never utter a word of this program to anyone else and still benefit from being a subscriber to COIL®. However, active communication of the Kanosis opportunity to people you know will cause your specific matrix to populate more rapidly.
With Kanosis there is no product to buy/stock for resale, no extensive training to become proficient by regulatory standards, no evening/weekend house calls to make selling something, or long drawn-out processes/procedures to endure. When Kanosis releases its state-of-the-art online video that will effectively communicate the benefits of COIL® and the Kanosis program a few weeks from now, members will simply send an e-mail to their network of family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. and invite them to view the presentation and decide for themselves to subscribe or not….just that simple!

The Income Opportunity
Once a Kanosis member has two people enrolled underneath them in the matrix through their own efforts or the efforts of people upline from them, Kanosis will pay a commission on each person in one's matrix of 5% on all products subscribed. So for each COIL® subscription of $22 per month (nothing payable on the $15 administrative fee), Kanosis will pay $1.10 per month into a secure debit card account set up for each Kanosis member up to 14 levels down in the matrix.
At this commission rate the breakeven on the $22 per month COIL® subscription is at the 4th level, and the income potential beyond that is truly astounding. The “law of large numbers” definitely applies! The founders project 10MM Kanosis members worldwide by the end of 2006. Others think that 1MM by that time is more realistic, but Jim Southworth feels that those projections are conservative given the trends in worldwide computing and compounded growth of the internet.

While people can get excited about earning $36K+ per month from a full matrix, the motivation here should be both use of COIL® online as well as the commission potential. As additional Kanosis services are launched, members in the matrix have the same 5% commission earning potential on those subscriptions as well, making this a compounding earning opportunity.
How Does One Get Commissions Paid?
Through a Canadian state-of-the-art online payment firm called Uniclear, Kanosis members will be issued debit cards to individual Uniclear accounts into which the commissions will be deposited. Members can use those cards directly or link bank accounts for funds transfer. The encryption level for these Uniclear accounts is an astounding 4096-bit…..the current internet banking standard is 128-bit SSL. Like I said, the technology is state-of-the-art!
Why Get Involved Now?
This company is in pre-launch mode.....will not go "public" with their program until late Q1 2006. The story is almost laughable…..the developers wanted to test their system “live” by putting up the beta test. By virtue of knowing the founders involved, the opportunity got leaked prematurely by Trip Wakefield to his network of contacts in the US in mid-December. The subsequent rush overwhelmed the company, thus delaying the launch from mid-January to sometime in March 2006. As of Feb 19 nearly 2500 people have signed up already, and the matrix is growing fast.
From my research I have learned that there is something statistically “magical” about the first 5000 places in a mathematical distribution such as the Kanosis matrix. While every person subscribing to Kanosis has an equal opportunity to earn commissions no matter at what time or spot they enter the matrix, the first subscribers have a good chance of “catching the wave” of the initial buzz of Kanosis and COIL®. The question is when that will occur as illustrated.
Is Kanosis a Substantial Enterprise?
A PhD technologist/entrepreneur that I greatly respect both technically and as a principled businessman made me aware of this new venture through his faith-based contacts. He and other knowledgeable business/technical professionals of integrity have conducted “due diligence” on Kanosis and are satisfied with the viability of this enterprise to the point of personally investing in the company. Steve Whittington is the CEO/co-founder and former founder of Herbalife, a highly successful nutraceutical company. Alistair Kildey is the marketing VP, co-founder and product/service visionary based in Australia and the principal speaker on the thrice-weekly conferences calls. Stephen van Zupfen is the leader of the team that created COIL® and runs the Cyprus-based development/operational center. Jim Southworth is a well-known internet technologist that has been directly involved in the COIL® development. Other indicators of the soundness of Kanosis are its worldwide legal counsel (Holland & Knight) and its worldwide outside accountants/auditors (PriceWaterhouseCoopers).
Is the Kanosis Marketing Approach a “Pyramid” Scheme?
Believing that the best way to address negativity on any subject is to “meet it head on,” I think it is appropriate to raise the question of negative comments you will hear about network/matrix marketing. In addressing a transient blog earlier this month which accused Kanosis of being such a scheme, Jim Southward said “There are a lot of very rich people who have built successful honest businesses using the matrix model. When applied honestly and appropriately it can be an amazingly efficient use of e-commerce on the web.” Many large corporations are beginning to look at network marketing using such a matrix as a means of holding down marketing costs and getting word of product/services out there faster. For myself I am satisfied that this is an honest, straightforward matrix marketing approach that does not unevenly reward top level members.

Doing Good through Kanosis
Many of the early Kanosians are people of faith who view the income opportunity as “provisioning” for good works here on earth. Whether you have such beliefs or not, the choice is yours to deploy some of the income stream from Kanosis to help others. For my part I intend to sign up a couple under my ID that are attempting to raise funding to cure a two-year old son with a life-threatening illness. The goal is a substantial income stream for that cause, but I want them to use COIL® for its value in connecting/communicating with a network of people dedicated to raising money for this sick child. While that alone is not a large commitment monetarily, it is nevertheless indicative of what can be accomplished through this program.
The Bottom Line
The pedigree of the people running Kanosis looks very strong, and the power of network marketing "focused" in the forced matrix makes Kanosis very compelling. The question of subscribing to Kanosis now versus waiting for the public launch of COIL® is a risk-reward question. If only 10% of the projected subscriptions occur this year (1MM members), we will still be using a quality service and enjoying significant income for little risk. It is all contingent on the capabilities of COIL®, power of network "word of mouth," power of internet marketing and the global reach.
For the cost of $59 that represents one nice family meal out at a chain restaurant, each of us has the opportunity to take a calculated risk that substantial reward is available for early entrants into Kanosis. If I subscribe to Kanosis for say a year and it doesn't work, I cancel the credit card payment and consider that I have risked $279. Some may take a “wait and see” attitude which is perfectly fine. From my perspective I will dread facing some of my contacts later that I did not tell about this if and when it takes off worldwide to become the next Google®. For myself and members of my family, we have concluded that the early reward is worth the minimal risk.

The user interface is “drag and drop” Files of unlimited size can be transferred this way overcoming the frustrations of full mailboxes and interminable download times.
COIL® is currently available in 10 languages
COIL® was originally developed as an enterprise system and is being modified to integrate functionality that is attractive to consumers (e.g. media player, VoIP) and the user interface is being extensively renovated (should be complete by 2/15/06). COIL® is valued at more than $200.00 per seat to by Corporate America. This powerful system is being marketed through Kanosis to consumers for just $22.00 per seat.
COIL® is the technology that allows Kanosis – a “cyber nation” to protect its borders against malicious attacks from hackers, crackers, viruses, spyware etc. The technical term for this is a Secure Access Network (SAN). Kanosis will enjoy a level of security that is roughly equivalent to that protecting the nation’s banks, stock exchanges, government and other vital functions.
Kanosians’ data is encrypted to protect privacy and stored in mirrored servers located in 4 highly secure, state-of-the-art, data centers at various locations around the world. Their data is accessible globally.
Competition:
Google® and Yahoo!® are the competitors with the closest match in terms of functionality although they trail COIL® in several obvious and numerous subtle ways. Most notably they are not based on IOS/SAN architecture. Microsoft has essentially conceded victory to the virus propagators and has announced that their future lies with IOS and web services. COIL® is at least 2 years ahead of Microsoft’s announced plans.

What is the Market Potential of Kanosis?
To appreciate the potential of Kanosis, one must understand:
the incredible power of the internet both from a website and e-mail perspective;
the incredible power of network(multi-level) marketing(whether you believe in/like it or not);
the serious issue of data/information security online;
While the COIL® service combination is potentially attractive to corporations large and small, the $100 billion worldwide market segment that can REALLY use COIL® is the network or multi-level marketing enterprises such as Amway®, Mary Kay®, Avon® and many others. The large network marketing field organizations of these type companies continually need to communicate via e-mail, phone conferences, internet, etc. and struggle to coordinate it all with different communication mediums. COIL® is targeted to solve these issues by linking it all over the internet. By virtue of their knowledge and experience with network marketing, the principals are poised to take COIL® to their leading network marketing contacts once it is launched.
Faith-based and charity groups should also have a real interest in COIL®. Many organizations reach around the world, connecting with constituents in many countries speaking many languages. The power of COIL® to connect and translate should be very powerful for such activities.
Earlier this month I had a personal conference call with Alistair Kildey, one of the founders of Kanosis and the primary product/marketing person behind current and future product plans, along with Trip Wakefield and John Barker of the US Kanosis group. I was blown away with his plans for COIL® and follow-on products as I introduced five or six different personal/business service ideas for Kanosis including registered e-mails, personal health records, online certifications and others. This company has a very broad vision in its mission and purpose, and their plans for various B2C (business to consumer) and B2B (business to business) markets is really impressive.
Is Kanosis the Next Google® or Skype®?
No one has a crystal ball to see what the next astounding internet enterprise will be, but in my opinion Kanosis has REAL potential for being the next “one.” Skype® grew to over 100MM members in the first 18 months. Although Skype is a free download, it represents but one piece of what is being combined in COIL®. Skype® members can use internet teleconferencing today, and a visit to the Skype website will show additional features now like video calls. But none of it is in a secure network that Kanosis will provide at the launch. And of course, the far-reaching features of COIL® as an Outlook replacement(e-mail, contacts, calendar, task scheduling, etc.) PLUS internet VoIP and teleconferencing make the combination of voice and electronic mail very exciting. I will be interested to see when features such as Go To Meeting where many people can connect to and look at one person's computer screen will be added to COIL®.
A constant to keep in mind in this analysis is that downloading software off the internet is one of the major security hazards in online computing. When COIL® is launched we will sign-in online and go behind their very secure firewalls to use COIL® without exposing our individual computers to viruses/hacking through downloads.
What Does It Cost to Join Kanosis?
The initial fee to sign up for Kanosis is US$59.00 which includes the annual US$15.00 administrative fee and two months subscription to COIL at US$22.00 per month. The ongoing COIL® subscription fee is US$22.00 per month.
The Network Marketing “Forced Matrix”
An innovative network marketing approach being employed by Kanosis is the vertical or “forced” matrix. While the term “matrix” can raise suspicions about a “pyramid” scheme(see discussion below), in my view this method is a fair and equitable means of both promoting Kanosis, spreading the use of its services and compensating people for getting involved….all at the same time! Whether you love it or hate it, extraordinary corporate and personal success of literally millions of people worldwide over the past 50 years proves that network marketing WORKS!
Traditional multi-level or network marketing programs encourage participants to “recruit” new members by going “wide”(direct downlines) as well as “deep”(direct downlines recruit members for their downlines). Whether marketing a product or service, the challenge lies in how many “wide” people actually become effective in the program. Rather than the traditional 80-20(Pareto Rule) law that “in anything a few (20 percent) are vital and many(80 percent) are trivial”, in most instances it is more like 95-5 or even 98-2 for these traditional multi-level programs. As a result a tremendous amount of time and energy is expended to find the one or two individuals in every hundred contacts that “get it” and will expend the time, energy and resources to succeed.
The power of the Kanosis vertical network is in the "forced matrix".....rather than going wide and deep, the program is just deep. Thus each person subscribing to Kanosis can only sign-up two new members under them.....sign two under you, and then each of those two signs up two, and so on. So for all of Kanosis there will be but one global matrix including every individual or group/corporate member using Kanosis services.
The beauty of the “forced” nature of this program is that upline members in the matrix making contact and enrolling folks under their Kanosis ID (in the case of this web sites owners use his ID dbeeson ) will cause those new subscribers to be automatically slotted in the first available slot in their matrix, thus benefiting members downline of their matrix. Naturally downline members fill a member’s matrix as they enroll contacts. This dual upline/downline enrollment benefit approach is a significant difference from traditional multi-level marketing where the efforts of the downlines significantly reward the upline members with overrides. In fact, a Kanosian subscriber can never utter a word of this program to anyone else and still benefit from being a subscriber to COIL®. However, active communication of the Kanosis opportunity to people you know will cause your specific matrix to populate more rapidly.
With Kanosis there is no product to buy/stock for resale, no extensive training to become proficient by regulatory standards, no evening/weekend house calls to make selling something, or long drawn-out processes/procedures to endure. When Kanosis releases its state-of-the-art online video that will effectively communicate the benefits of COIL® and the Kanosis program a few weeks from now, members will simply send an e-mail to their network of family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. and invite them to view the presentation and decide for themselves to subscribe or not….just that simple!

The Income Opportunity
Once a Kanosis member has two people enrolled underneath them in the matrix through their own efforts or the efforts of people upline from them, Kanosis will pay a commission on each person in one's matrix of 5% on all products subscribed. So for each COIL® subscription of $22 per month (nothing payable on the $15 administrative fee), Kanosis will pay $1.10 per month into a secure debit card account set up for each Kanosis member up to 14 levels down in the matrix.
At this commission rate the breakeven on the $22 per month COIL® subscription is at the 4th level, and the income potential beyond that is truly astounding. The “law of large numbers” definitely applies! The founders project 10MM Kanosis members worldwide by the end of 2006. Others think that 1MM by that time is more realistic, but Jim Southworth feels that those projections are conservative given the trends in worldwide computing and compounded growth of the internet.

While people can get excited about earning $36K+ per month from a full matrix, the motivation here should be both use of COIL® online as well as the commission potential. As additional Kanosis services are launched, members in the matrix have the same 5% commission earning potential on those subscriptions as well, making this a compounding earning opportunity.
How Does One Get Commissions Paid?
Through a Canadian state-of-the-art online payment firm called Uniclear, Kanosis members will be issued debit cards to individual Uniclear accounts into which the commissions will be deposited. Members can use those cards directly or link bank accounts for funds transfer. The encryption level for these Uniclear accounts is an astounding 4096-bit…..the current internet banking standard is 128-bit SSL. Like I said, the technology is state-of-the-art!
Why Get Involved Now?
This company is in pre-launch mode.....will not go "public" with their program until late Q1 2006. The story is almost laughable…..the developers wanted to test their system “live” by putting up the beta test. By virtue of knowing the founders involved, the opportunity got leaked prematurely by Trip Wakefield to his network of contacts in the US in mid-December. The subsequent rush overwhelmed the company, thus delaying the launch from mid-January to sometime in March 2006. As of Feb 19 nearly 2500 people have signed up already, and the matrix is growing fast.
From my research I have learned that there is something statistically “magical” about the first 5000 places in a mathematical distribution such as the Kanosis matrix. While every person subscribing to Kanosis has an equal opportunity to earn commissions no matter at what time or spot they enter the matrix, the first subscribers have a good chance of “catching the wave” of the initial buzz of Kanosis and COIL®. The question is when that will occur as illustrated.
Is Kanosis a Substantial Enterprise?
A PhD technologist/entrepreneur that I greatly respect both technically and as a principled businessman made me aware of this new venture through his faith-based contacts. He and other knowledgeable business/technical professionals of integrity have conducted “due diligence” on Kanosis and are satisfied with the viability of this enterprise to the point of personally investing in the company. Steve Whittington is the CEO/co-founder and former founder of Herbalife, a highly successful nutraceutical company. Alistair Kildey is the marketing VP, co-founder and product/service visionary based in Australia and the principal speaker on the thrice-weekly conferences calls. Stephen van Zupfen is the leader of the team that created COIL® and runs the Cyprus-based development/operational center. Jim Southworth is a well-known internet technologist that has been directly involved in the COIL® development. Other indicators of the soundness of Kanosis are its worldwide legal counsel (Holland & Knight) and its worldwide outside accountants/auditors (PriceWaterhouseCoopers).
Is the Kanosis Marketing Approach a “Pyramid” Scheme?
Believing that the best way to address negativity on any subject is to “meet it head on,” I think it is appropriate to raise the question of negative comments you will hear about network/matrix marketing. In addressing a transient blog earlier this month which accused Kanosis of being such a scheme, Jim Southward said “There are a lot of very rich people who have built successful honest businesses using the matrix model. When applied honestly and appropriately it can be an amazingly efficient use of e-commerce on the web.” Many large corporations are beginning to look at network marketing using such a matrix as a means of holding down marketing costs and getting word of product/services out there faster. For myself I am satisfied that this is an honest, straightforward matrix marketing approach that does not unevenly reward top level members.

Doing Good through Kanosis
Many of the early Kanosians are people of faith who view the income opportunity as “provisioning” for good works here on earth. Whether you have such beliefs or not, the choice is yours to deploy some of the income stream from Kanosis to help others. For my part I intend to sign up a couple under my ID that are attempting to raise funding to cure a two-year old son with a life-threatening illness. The goal is a substantial income stream for that cause, but I want them to use COIL® for its value in connecting/communicating with a network of people dedicated to raising money for this sick child. While that alone is not a large commitment monetarily, it is nevertheless indicative of what can be accomplished through this program.
The Bottom Line
The pedigree of the people running Kanosis looks very strong, and the power of network marketing "focused" in the forced matrix makes Kanosis very compelling. The question of subscribing to Kanosis now versus waiting for the public launch of COIL® is a risk-reward question. If only 10% of the projected subscriptions occur this year (1MM members), we will still be using a quality service and enjoying significant income for little risk. It is all contingent on the capabilities of COIL®, power of network "word of mouth," power of internet marketing and the global reach.
For the cost of $59 that represents one nice family meal out at a chain restaurant, each of us has the opportunity to take a calculated risk that substantial reward is available for early entrants into Kanosis. If I subscribe to Kanosis for say a year and it doesn't work, I cancel the credit card payment and consider that I have risked $279. Some may take a “wait and see” attitude which is perfectly fine. From my perspective I will dread facing some of my contacts later that I did not tell about this if and when it takes off worldwide to become the next Google®. For myself and members of my family, we have concluded that the early reward is worth the minimal risk.
