preston14,
welcome to Matrixwatch, using western union to pay for goods, is like throwing your money out of the window, there is no way of knowing where it will land. Funds paid through WU can be collected anywhere in the world.
Post the URL of the site, and someone will take a look for you.

Hello Preston,
Sorry to hear about your concerns, could you supply a bit more information:
1. The link to the auction on ebay you are reffering or any by the same seller.
2. Can you confirm that you have already paid for the item.
3. What the $500 item is.
4. Can you state the country they are in that they say doesn't accept paypal.

I agree with Weirdid on this one. Any time someone you don't know requests payment through Western Union, you need to RUN! 100% scam.

I agree, but I was hopeing to break the news a bit gentler in case the funds where already on the way. Could do with a bit more info though.
The Ebay sellers id would help, in case they could be using one they have phished from somebody else.

Can you provide the URL for the site or the names of the people/company making the offer? I agree with the others that it is a scam, but we need to make sure other members know where the scam is so they can avoid it.

Preston,
After a bit more research I realised the item you mean is a xxv-05 kenwood in car DVD Player (as per the thread topic). :)
Most likely you are refering to the auction here :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/In-Car-DVD-CD-Player-Sat-Nav-alpine-kenwood-sony_W0QQitemZ9704671175QQcategoryZ67772QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem
I'm going to take a chance and say avoid this for the following reasons:
1. Feedback kept private:What they hiding ?
2. At best it will be a link to a matrix site.
3. If you have sent them money try complaining to Western Union or ebay. I wouldn't hold your breath though.
4. All Scammers guarantee their scheme is 100% safe. :shake:
5. You may not receive your DVD Player but you will certainley help someone else receive theirs. :shake:
I hope i have picked up on the correct auction and this is the one you meant Preston, let me know if its a different one.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity
You will be shocked at the amazingly low prices that these systems go for!
I am not actually selling the DVD Player, but what i am offering is information about where you can get one of these for as little as £40
I am not trying to con anyone, just give it a go, and you’ll see that it really does work!
There is no reserve, so don’t miss out the chance of getting one of these systems so cheap!
I know my feedback is a little low at the moment, but i am just starting out. I just want to share this great information with everyone!
Just give it a go, I assure you, you will NOT be disappointed, I Promise!
Please Read Carefully
You will not receive the actual player from me, but what you will receive is an email guiding you to get one of these systems.
I have even shopped around to see just what other people are selling, and they do not actually offer as much information as I do! I will give you a number of different sites where you can get these systems, and I have even supplied websites where people can purchase them from a number of different countries and not just the UK.
Just look how much some people are paying for this quality information
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IN-CAR-AUDIO-DVD-IN-DASH-TV-DVD-GPS-SAT-NAV-CD-PLAYER_W0QQitemZ8047462150QQcategoryZ9895QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem
A lot of other sellers say that they are the original seller, and that people have copied them. But this is not copied from anyone; I am the original seller of this information!
I have actually seen people selling my information for $100, which is ridiculous, because this is the same information you will be getting off me for £4.00
@Webwatch: That auction is for a Matrix and isn't the one preston already LOST his $500 on from the way I read what he said.......
The seller on that auction is only hiding one bad feedback out of 232
Preston said he already sent the money by Western Union and he has been ripped off

Preston the reason their country doesn't have PayPal is because there is so much fraud in that country
See the PayPal site for the country list, Russia, Nigeria etc

Hi Ferret thanks for that,
I'm even more suspicious when only 1 feedback comment is negative it must be the most recent one and pretty damming maybe along the lines of: "This is nothing more than a link to a Matrix/Ponzi Scam or worse stay well clear".
Just a guess :)
I was considering the possibility that Preston may have already payed the £4.00 for the link and then paid a further $500 to be placed in the matrix. Unless its worse and there isn't even a matrix it just a plain and simple old school scam.
Hopefully he/she hasn't gone this far but it would explain the concern over the Western Union Transfer.
Preston could you clarify if you get chance

$40 is a Matrix price
$500 is the full (cheap) price for an item like that
There is no matrix and Preston won't be getting his money back
Preston just learned an expensive lesson
Ebays guarantee won't help him because he didn't use PayPal, etc

Hello Preston,
Unfortunately it is highly likely that this is all fake and the ebav instead of ebay name in the e-mail almost confirms this.
Please click on the link below to report the situation to ebay:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/contact_us/_base/index_6.html?item=&topic=index_6&continue=Continue+%3E
Also in order to protect yourself in the future.
1. Never use Western Union for ebay purchases, no matter what excuses the seller gives that it maybe safe.
2. You may now find your e-mail address passed onto other scammers so any e-mails you get from ebay ignore or delete know matter how convincing they look.
Genuine ebay e-mails will show up in your ebay account just login by typing the proper url into a browser window never click on a link to visit ebay.
As i have used an ebay link in this post, If you prefer to visit ebay without using the above link you can goto the help section and search for "fraud" or "fraud reporting" which should bring you to the same section the above link does.
Also the same rules apply for Paypal and banking e-mails as many scammers use a "phishing technique" by where they send a genuine looking e-mail to ask you to verify your details by clicking on a link which is fake.
There are many more dangers out there but these tend to be the most common.

It is a spoof, don't send any money via WU.
Ebay would never make a statement like this.
"Western Union Money Transfer is designed mainly for sending cash to friends and family in need, so telling them you are sending the money to an eBay seller will prevent your money transfer to go through and you will be unable to complete this transaction."
They are basically saying "We will be complicant regarding this fraudulant transaction." since they are asking you to lie on their behalf.
