BLACKOUT!!

We have members from all over the country here. What was it like for you during the blackout? Did you lose contact with friends? If you were there, did you suffer any computer damages? Please post your stories!

We had minor problems with our power. It was after 4:00 pm eastern time, the power flickered on and off. Then it went off again and stayed off for about 10-15 minutes. During that time I was calling the power company to report it, and figured a power line was down somewhere. Well a few minutes after I reported the power came back on and stayed on.

Fortunately, that's all the problems we had with it. I live in northern Ohio between Toledo and Cleveland. Then I saw on the news that power was out all over, it's kind of scary.

I had the power out for 24 hours and three minutes. Ended up throwing away almost everything in the fridge. To top it off the weather was so hot and no airconditioner to cool us down, we just about went out of our minds. Thank goodness for the Solar Powered Radio that you only have to crank for thirty seconds and you have one hour of radio time. I would have gone completely nuts had I not had that radio. I had a camping stove so I was able to cook up a few things before they got bad, and camping lights run on huge batteries so at night I could see everything. Also have a colour Casio portable battery operated TV, screen size in only 2 inches by 2.5 inches, but at least I got to see "The Amazing Race 4", watched the news till the batteries on the TV died, then went to sleep with a few bags of frozen vegetables to keep me cool. All in all it wasn't bad. I don't know how they do in Iraq with almost 3 months of no power. UGH.
