Hi, my husband is an STA believer. It is causing us tax problems. We are ending up being billed by the IRS for more money than we can afford. I am the one who does the taxes thru Turbo Tax, but I am not set up to handle a scam nor a legitimate business for that matter. I am just a scared 66 yr old grandmother with a bachelor of science education in a med field.
I do not know what to do. My thought is that anything on the 'net like STA is a scam. My husband's thoughts are that they are the only hope for his future and his retirement. He accuses me of wanting to take away his hope and dreams. That was one thing when I thought it was not costing us money, now it is costing us money thru the IRS.
They say to get an accountant. We have no money for an accountant. We live on the SC coast and can't afford to get our a/c fixed. I drive our only car, a 91 Honda Civic. I cannot afford to visit my children or grandchildren hours away for fear that my only car will break down and require repairs that we cannot afford.
I am so upset. I don't know what to do re STA. I hate them with all I have, my husband says I don't support him in what he is trying to do for "us".
Aside from the emotional toll, is there anything I can do at this point? Is there also any other information from uninterested sources as to STA being a scam.
I don't know what else to say...........where would I look for a reply to this?

Contact the IRS and tell them everything. Make sure they realize that you never actually took possesion of any money from YMMSS/STA.
I personally view what YMMSS/STA has done is basically money laundering.

Ginger:
You can also join our victim registry:
http://www.matrixwatch.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2969
Once joined up, there are many resources you can use to file complaints against STA/YMMSS. Get your husband to come to these forums. We can prove (mathematically) that STA is a scam. You folks will never get paid.

You can try to refer your husband to this site. You need to make your husband understand that you are questioning STA for the same reasons he uses for participating. You both think you are doing what you do for your future. Unfortunately, only you are correct, and if you don't correct the problem soon, you won't even have that 91 honda to drive around in.

Another sad testimonial. In most areas there are resources that help seniors do their taxes. Do some research and locate this help.
I hate them with all I have, my husband says I don't support him in what he is trying to do for "us".

If they did, STA would have no more supporters today including your husband. He'll have to come around in his own way in his own time.

yeah, it is kind of like trying to understand why someone would "choose" to be a suicidal terrorist..............it is born of desperation and of hope. IMO.
Bottomfeeders pick them off. Arguments only convince them of their "desperation" and lack of power without whatever belief system they are using to feel empowered.
Before this, or perhaps concurrently, my husband had his future placed in the hands of an internet group called "Platinum". He did not give up until they died.
I do not mean to kill Kim, I mean, and I don't really see how, to kill Kim's organization.
And I know more will spring up. In my situation, I am counting on this site and links to eventually show my husband that his way is not working. When that happens, I would expect depression as who is going to provide his hope then.
For some, and we have no retirement savings other than his military pension, there really is no other material hope.
It takes a lot to "kill" hope.
Logic and facts can be twisted. I have no doubt that STA is in my definition a scam and can mean nothing but bad for us, however, I, too, look at logic and facts, even as your mathematical tables as things that can be twisted.
You can believe that STA can refute every fact and every bit of logic that is on this site. The best thing you all have going is the stories.
But legally.............well, what is the legal stand, really.
What hope can you offer me who is watching my future get worse than I thought it could be........other than a disaster in health.

Welcome to Matrix Watch ginger_55.
Sorry to hear of the situation your
husband's good intentions have placed
you in.
Most of the remaining YMMSS-Success
Through Advertising scam supporters
are purely faith based. None of them
are fact based.
Regarding the tax situation, I can only
echo sentiments of going straight to
the IRS, especially if you file jointly.
We are all wired differently, so it's hard
to say what will work with your husband.
Bringing him here may or may not work.
If he is put off by some of the more
zealous criticisms of Kim Inman and STA,
I would be happy to correspond with
him privately through the forums via
PMs or chat. We can then avoid any
extraneous comments that may put
him on the defensive.
If he is counting on STA to help provide
for your future, then he should have an
idea in dollars and cents of what he is
expecting from them.
In the STA Weeding out the Garden (http://www.matrixwatch.org/forums/showthread.php?p=43355)
thread, you stated that he has said he
has not invested any money this year.
If true, that's a good sign in that he
is choosing not to throw good money
after bad into a "business" that has
not performed as promised.
It also shows doubt on his behalf.
Unless he is planning on being an ad
salesman or learning how to build and
optimize a website to earn money via
STA-Ads.com, he should take a good
hard look at the tables in the thread
Success Through Advertising(STA)
Earnings/Loss Potential (http://www.matrixwatch.org/forums/showthread.php?t=4415).
Using those tables, he should be able
to calculate the costs involved in
getting to whatever goal income he
has in mind for STA.
At this stage of the game, just to
add a supplementary $10K/year to
his retirement income, he would need
to shell out over $600,000.00 for WAC
purchases.
Those tables and facts can't really be
"twisted" to anyone's benefit.
BTW, was it Platinum or "Going Platinum"
that he was involved with previously?
Good luck.
