I find these types of "info" auctions annoying but i don't think ebay deems them as not allowed. The seller is making it very clear what you are buying is just info.

I've seen other more obvious scams, and reported them, and nothing is ever done, i've given up now.

I split out your post to keep our reporting thread consistent. eBay doesn't allow these types of auctions as listed here:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/compilation.html

There might some cases where they may be allowed, but in the context that we report them in, they are not. They are clearly advertising using items that they are not selling, or they are providing information on how to buy an item outside of eBay, which is not allowed.

This is exactly how i heard of matrix sites. Before I was condiering buying an alienware computer, and I kept on seeing "alienware clones". So, being bored as I was, at work, I always went back to compare the states. These clones just used the cheap components as alienware. not even funny.

Eventually I seen an alienware, with an alienware picture for like $50. I couldnt figure it out. Read it over and over and over. Maybe I just wasnt bright enough to figure it out. Eventually I read words such as "all u have to do is wait, typically 3 months". So, I thought, somehow they were going to invest my money, and I would be a part of some kind of waiting lists, that for whatever reason or anohter, alienware gives away computes to. Hell, I saw things online where they will give you a car, all u have to do is drive around in it, and ur a driving billboard. Is that a scam also? Probably. But I dont know.

Then, I thought eventually the $50 was to some kind of super secret wholesale list. Like those super discount stores that sell yesterdays fashions for pennies on the dollar. I wouldnt mind paying $50 for a list like this so I can buy a super cheap alienware computer that was popular yesterday.

So, even though these "information" sales is clear for you, for most everybody out there that has never heard of them it is not clear. They dont know what they are getting into. I see a picture of what i want to buy. I read the specs on what I want to buy. I dont see details on this eBook, or whatever ur claiming i buy.

I dont think there is anything wrong with selling information like wholesale lists. But, what MW does is report (as far as i know ) are sales for links to websites.

BTW, the ONLY way I figured out what was being sold, the text said soemthing like "Dont pay me for this auction, just go to" and i believe it was theimatrix
