Hi all...I happened to stumble on the site and found it very interesting. My main questions, however, go to the webmaster or anyone that knows the answer - I also know that this is posted in the wrong section...I apologize but it seemed like the most active of the forums.
1. The design of this website/forum is based off of a script/program (similar to phpbb for forums)...can someone give me a hand as to what script this is based off of...
AND...
2. Does anyone know of a hosting company that offers this script free of charge with their services?
Thanks in advance,
Lock44

I guess I should point out that I am more interested in the website design and the name of that script...vbulletin just does the forums? Correct? When researching hosting companies, what do I look for to find this design? Thanks

This is vBulletin software you can get that from the bottom of the page. :)
Powered by vBulletin Version 3.6.2

And you have to pay to use it. No working around that.

P.S. I'm moving this to our "off topic" forum.

I guess I should also clarify....your hosting service doesn't provide Vbulletin. You buy the package and then install it on your host server.

Thanks...I thought vbulletin just did the forums though (that's what it looks like on their website)

They do the forums, yes. We also use vbportal, which powers the front page/menus/etc.
vbportal costs additional money.
Edit: You can see our operating expenses, which include those fees at this link (http://www.matrixwatch.org/modules.php?name=FAQ&op=viewcategory&cid=8). On a related note, we depend on our member base to support our operating costs via our yearly donation drive (http://www.matrixwatch.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2025).

Am I correct to assume that phpNuke is the same as the vbulletin type stuff?

Lock44,
if you need to know about the tech side of vbulletin, why not visit their site and use their forum. I'm sure you will get all your questions answered.

vbportal is a content-management system like phpNuke, I believe its based on it or at least was at one point, but vbportal has a lot more power to it now (especially administrative functions). vbulletin is forum software, you integrate your vbulletin installation within your vbportal content management system. Its all based on a series of CSS's (cascading style sheets).
