View Full Version : CEP Forum goes Private at last.

Well its been a long time coming but at last CEP members get their own Private forum.
Hey guys,
A few things to address, so bear with me
Mass email: The email was sent via the forum, and was supposed to go to all registered forum users. We did not send it to the member base. That is a different mass email system. Out of 16,000 members, we have less than 4000 forum members, and I’m sure, many of these aren’t CEP members. This is why the email went to forum members and not the entire member base of CEP.
Forum closure: The forum will be closed for sure for approximately 2 days. (this weekend) During this downtime, we will be redoing the forum layout and removing all members from the database except Admin and Mods. If we can do this quicker than 2 days, the forum will be up sooner. If it takes a bit longer, it will be down a bit longer. Honestly, I think we can do it in 2 days or less.
So, on Monday you should be able to reregister. You will need to include your CEP member ID and your first and last names as they are listed in your members area in your signature box. We will start verifying members once we start receiving the applications and as we approve you, we will remove your info from the signature box. If you are not a CEP member or you do not include the information we need to verify you, your application will be deleted. If you are not a CEP member, don’t bother trying to reregister as we will keep deleting your application. If you simply forgot to include your information, you can register again, making sure to include the information we need.
Once you have been approved, you will be able to log into the forum and post. However, until we get a bulk of the members done, we will only have the general area open. Just as you want us to work through this as quickly as possible, we do too. So we will not have the time to answer questions or dispel fights/arguments. Now, every now and then we may have to close the forum depending on the bulk of applicants or whatever else may come along that calls for it. With any luck, we will not have to close it at all as we do this. But on the off chance that you come to the forum and it is offline, check back in an hour or so, as we don’t foresee anything taking longer than an hour or two to rectify.
The Vote: Yes, most of us did vote yes for this. And yes, we are getting what we asked for here. Ed, Michelle and myself will work as quickly as we can to reopen the forum, and allow everyone to post again. Please don’t think we are using your “yes” vote as a means of stifling you. However, this is the easiest way we can get you what we all want.
Means of contact: Whether the forum is down for one day or even the two weeks we had originally thought, there are other ways of staying in contact with other members as well as any news. News will be sent via email to the entire member base (not forum email, but site email) as well as be posted in the news section. The forum email address is available for you to use to contact any of the Mods. And there is also the conference room that we can use. So you see, even if we are shut down for 2 days or so, we are not leaving anyone out to dry. We would never do that to you.
OK, that’s it from me, I think. I hope I covered everything
Pamela
Not sure why this takes takes 2 days 'or so' and now is not the time to start tampering with the layout.
Perhaps theres a glitch on the way.
Not Paying, Forums Closing-all seems very familiar to me.
To help out a little CEP forum admin can go to the admin control panel, on the left hand side where it says users, select mass delete, follow some simple on screen instructions and away you go. Estmated time to complete 5-10 minutes.
As there is only 50 to 100 active members on the CEP forum it should be quite simple to get everything changed over quite quickly.
How am I going to get my daily CEP updates now. :)
Will a CEP member be kind enough to PM me all the relevant posts when everything goes private please.:D
Thats of course if it ever comes on line again.

There supposedly doing it so only proper CEP members can remain part of the private forum.
CEP victims will have to reregister using their account number and signature name so their membership can be verified.
Its a way of weeding out the infiltrators, not that I know any.

I don't know what's stranger. Removing all the members and keeping the mods, or removing all the mods, and keeping the members.

Maybe you should read the post before you ask questions. The answer was in WW's original post.

Without mods to help you out, you need to do the reading on your own, so that you can get the information in your head. It doesn't help to ask a question on the forum where the answer is in the post right above yours. If you aren't paying attention, the victims will not trust you, or they will seek help somewhere else.

Just in from Pam on CEP Forum.
The way we plan on doing this, the forum should only be down for this weekend, and maybe a time or two very briefly between Monday and whenever we have the bulk of members approved. We guestimate 2 weeks to get everyone approved, but we really can't say without knowing how many of the 4k+ registered members we have now are actually CEP members. Members will always be able to register at a later time; we will not be shutting that down.
Because Clayton has his hands full with other things, we can't just up and open a new forum, build it and have folks register there while this one stays up. We have to work with what we have if we are to do this as quickly as members want this to happen.
PamelaGone up to 2 weeks now, this is starting to look a little ominous.
The CEP forum is a freely downloadable script, PhPBB forums are amongst the most common ones out there, within 30 minutes they could have a new forum built and ready to go, all in place for new members to post to. There is no need in my opinion for this downtime at all.
Heck they still use the original template, with a bit of jiggling in the template section they could even have their own logo.
Just trying to help.

If everything were going well with ColonEnd I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who is willing to share information from that forum with you.
However, since everything is NOT going well there will be plenty of people to keep you fed ;) Even if CEP weather's the storm I think there are enough people disgusted by what has happened that the information will continue to flow.

When a forum closes often the victims get seperated and have to feed on scraps where ever they can.
Like us or hate us if any CEP members want to start a thread to stay intouch with others feel free to do so. I promise not to use any such thread as an area to debate the validity or scam aspect of CEP.

The forum going private is not a big deal at all. Info will still spill out i promise. If any of you people can please sign up. I surely hope your not afraid to give out your real name and so forth. If you are then shame on you and your so called good cause. I will be the first to call you cowards if thats the case.
Cep is about to rob thousands of people and we need to take some sort of action against them to try to recover what we can.

Hi Jasper as CEP is closed its very difficult to sign up although when I was a member of the forum I did use a real name but what difference that makes I don't know. I doub't if Trevor used his real name to get the whole thing going in the first place.
I wonder if the protocols CEP has in place to protect the new and potentially elusive forum will be as strict as they are saying or are they just making it up.
Cep is about to rob thousands of people and we need to take some sort of action against them to try to recover what we can.
It could be argued that CEP has already done this and unless someone can pre-empt the SEC then they will just be added to long list of creditors lucky to see anything once it all shakes out.
Even though there is still a fair amount of information pointing towards an SEC investigation, I still have doubts. Maybe I'm just a total sceptic.

While it does look suspicious I can't swallow Trevor ripping us off when we now know what he looks like, where he goes to school, where he lives and even where he honeymooning. If he rips us off he'll have holy hell at his doorstep. Literally! :nono:

What is your real name?
If you are too "cowardly" to give it then
what was your "name" on the CEP Forum?

Thats a good point but do you really know these things or is it just an illusion that Trevor has presented. May be he has got in way over his head but it all looks so premeditated to me.

Hi William
Is the first affinity fraud you have been ripped off by?
Knowing all those details about scammers is not all that unusual. A similar example would be the recent YMMSS / Kim Inman ponzi. Do some research and you will find that Kim Inman met with his victims, went on cruises with them and still lives in the same house in Indiana. There are YMMSS group photos online which include the main Perpetrators and their victims smiling arm in arm. There is a forum where many of the victims and early birds still claim that Kim Inman is a great honest Christian.
Your reasoning is faulty and confidence men rely on you trusting them by being very accessible. However when problems arise with the scam the con-men always seem to go into hiding and usually disappear.
Does this sound familiar?
Forums go private or shut down.
There are no more posts on forums from the scammer
Vague emails are the only means of coommunication
etc
I suggest you read the Charles Ponzi story on Wikipedia

Hi H.I.!
No, this is not my first stroll down Ripped Off Blvd.
It just seems so unbelievable that someone going to a seminary would think he could get away with something like this. I'm not far from SEBTS. If this turns out to be a scam I will be taking a holiday in NC.
My gut tells me that he's a cocky kid who had a little success with an online program and thought he could do no wrong. And then the big hammer of Uncle Sam came down on his noggin. :nono:
This will be interesting to watch how it unravels.
Anybody want to meet for a Thumping Convention in Wake Forest? :applause: :applause: :applause:

Dear naive siska,
Moderator Note: Infraction. These forums are a place for discussion not taunting. Please read the forum rules (http://www.matrixwatch.com/forums/announcement.php?f=26)and treat others with respect.
I did not threaten Trevor. Actually, if you can come down from your high horse and actually read what I wrote, with a dictionary within reach, you'll realize that I actually defended Trevor.
Many times we read into what others write those emotions we are feeling ourselves. So, how do YOU feel about Trevor?
You make a big assumption in what you take my words to mean.
Watchdog, by giving me an "infraction point" you demonstrate to us how this forum is really run.
Do you not think there may be another meaning in my words?
