MatrixWatch

I've received several questions from our members about the recent changes at MatrixWatch, and I've posted them here so other members can benefit.
Is MatrixWatch for sale?
Absolutely not. There are no plans to sell any of the MatrixWatch domains, or any of the software or content on the website. The #1 focus right now is to launch the new site, enhance the user experience, and make a huge impact on the web.
Now, there are plans to add revenue through advertising and perhaps introduce products & services. However, this will need to be carefully planned for, so that we don't undermine our mission to reduce internet fraud, and warn & protect consumers.
What is the new direction for MatrixWatch?
As we did back in 2003, MatrixWatch will once again be broadening its scope, this time on more general types of internet fraud. Internet fraud comprises about 60% of all complaints to the authorities, and the top complaints include online-auction fraud, point-of-sale fraud, nigerian "419" fraud, dating scams, and lottery/sweepstakes sites. Currently, we are hardly making a dent in any of those areas, and instead focusing a great amount of our time with sketchy online-investment scams. While we'll still focus on these, we'll also be shifting our focus on the others in a big way.
When will the new site go live?
Our aggressive goal is mid-December, although it might stretch to Christmas. We're developing some very useful features for the anti-scam community, and these tools will help pave the way for our members to make the web a safer place for themselves and other consumers. Seriously, we can't wait for you to see the results. :)
Why are the forums closed?
The forums are closed so that 100% of our attention can be placed on the development of the new website. Forums take a lot of time and effort to maintain, and there's also the looming risk that complaints, or even lawsuits can be filed (http://www.mydv-ripoff.co.uk/hoghartthreatmatrix.html) for something that is said. And so for the time being, our forums will remain close to new posts. Its also an opportunity for everyone, including our frequent visitors and volunteers, to take a much-needed break. :)
Where are all the mods?
And with all the recent changes, I've personally asked the remaining moderators to step down temporarily. It is my hope that when the new site goes live, they will continue to be a part of MatrixWatch's new direction. Obviously, no mods are needed when there are no new posts to moderate. But they've served oru members well in so many other areas, and I hope to work with them again after the new MatrixWatch website launches.
