... BUSH LEGAL TEAM SUES SANTA CLAUS By S. Artist Reuters

AUSTIN, TX (Dec. 4) - Attorneys for Texas Governor George W. Bush filed suit in federal court today, seeking to prevent Santa Claus from making his list and then checking it twice. The complaint seeks an immediate injunction against the beloved Christmas icon, asking the court to effectively ban his traditional practice of checking the list of good boys and girls one additional time before packing his sleigh.

The suit, filed in the Federal District Court of Austin, Texas, asks a federal judge to "hereby order Mr. Claus to cease and desist all repetitive and duplicative list-checking activity, and certify the original list as submitted, without amendment, alteration, deletion, or other unnecessary modification."

"There are no standards for deciding who is naughty, and who is nice. It's totally arbitrary and capricious. How many more times does he need to check? This checking, checking, and re-checking over and over again must stop now," said former Secretary James Baker.

Baker further claimed that unnamed GOP observers witnessed an elf removing all boys named Justin from the 'nice' list, filing them under 'naughty' instead because "everyone knows all boys named Justin are brats."

Gov. Bush cited the potential for unauthorized list tampering, and blasted what he called the "crazy, crazy mess up there at the North Pole."

"Their security is really awful, really bad," said Bush. "My mother just walked right in, told 'em she was Mrs. Claus. They didn't check her ID or nothing."

Meanwhile, Dick Cheney, Gov. Bush's running mate, issued a direct plea to St. Nick himself. "Mr. Claus, I call on you to do the honorable thing, and quit checking your list. The children of the world have had enough. They demand closure now," Cheney said, adding that his granddaughter has already selected a name for the pony she's asked for.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson was quick to respond to this latest development with plans to lead his protesters from Florida to the North Pole via dogsled. The "Million Man Mush" is scheduled to leave Friday. "We need red suits and sleighs, not law suits and delays," Jackson said.

Santa Claus could not be reached for comment, but an spokeself said he was "deeply distressed" by news of the pending legal action against him.

"He's losing weight, and he hasn't said 'Ho Ho' for days," said the spokeself. "He's just not feeling jolly."

A weary nation can relate.

Thought everyone here would get a kick out of this.

Santa Claus is a christian tradition. Most Chinese are not christian. Technically Chinese people dont have a religion because communism forbids religion but I think most are buddhists anyways. Am I right ycchen?

Daoism, buddhism, shamanism and all sort of local religions are popular among Chinese in China and everywhere else. Christian population in China is small but it is quite popular (but not dominant) among Chinese outside China, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and North America. And don't forget, many Chinese are atheises like myself....:D

Atheism.....
Is it not kind of hard not to believe in something? I guess you have to live now for something if you have nothing to look forward to upon death.

I knew Santa was a christian belief, but I figured with the onslaught of technology and global travel etc that even other religions would here about things like this and adopt them. I mean, a fat guy jumping down your chimney...like it would ever happen, but still fun to play with kids regardless of your religion.

Hee hee, I had a good laugh over this.

Next to sue Santa will be the Jewish people, Santa is obviously a Nazi since he completely leaves all the little Jewish kids out of the picture.

There are too many things to do in life, why bother about whether you will get into heaven or hell? For example, sweeping matrix out of the market is something more meaningful to do in life...:D

That's why everyone knows about Santa Claus as a Christian icon more than any other religion icons. Damion, you know there are million of religions in this world, and I do not think fat Santa slipping down the chimney is the 'most' interesting of all...:) FYI, people living in the tropics do not have chimney, so the Santa has to come from the underground pipe line; the X'mas in South Africa or Austialia is in their summer, so the Santa in the southern hemisphere usually do not look as fat or bulky ..:)

Beside, X'mas in North American context is all about gift exchange nowsaday, which has become an unberable burden to many poor families. So, it might be fun if you are middle class family capable of buying gifts for your kids, other family members and friends. I think working class familiy might not enjoy as much if they are constantly worried about where and how to buy cheap gifts.

Therefore, matrix become an attractive source of cheap X'mas gifts. That is the main explaination behind the recent surge in sales at some matrix-sites.

I can imagine a single parent family buying cheap PS2 as X'mas presents, later find themselves stuck in matrix for years. The pressure of gift exchange fuels the X'mas shopping, lure newbies into the false promise of matrix, and adding many unhappy stories to this 'supposely' cheerful Santa's holiday season...:)

That's why, it is really sad to see these misinformed low income shoppers (students or poor family) pouring their saving into matrix-sites, eagerly waiting for the free gifts to arrive. Unfortunately, their wait might go beyond the next 2-3 X'mas seasons.

Therefore, I won't be surprised if more lawsuits will be filed against matrix-sites by disgrunted X'mas shoppers after x'mas. We shall see.

Sorry to go off topic...:D
